Two-border lake Kerkafalva

The water area was created during the reclamation of the material extraction site of the Lower Szentendre Reservoir. The cross-section of the lake, with an average water depth of 1.6 meters, is a 1:2 sloped earthbed with a 3.0 meter wide bank. The lake is fed by the Kerka stream, which belongs to the Mura water system. The fishing lake in the reservoir area is separated from the flood reservoir by a 196.50 mBf crown-level embankment on the valley side of the lake, where the lake shore level does not reach the 196.50 mBf level. The embankment has a crown width of 2.0 m, a crown level of 196.50 mBf, and a slope of 1:2 on the lake side and 1:6 on the flood reservoir side.

The fishing pond is filled and replenished with water from the Kerka stream. The dam with a bund in the 42+338 km section of the Kerka can produce a maximum dam water level of 194.50 mBf. The feeder channel branches out from the dam at the 42+341 km section of the Kerka, with a length of 1040 m, a bottom width of 1.0 m, and a gradient of 1:1.5. The inlet sluice is located at the lake-side end of the feeder channel, which leads the water from the feeder channel into the lake during the filling of the lake. The length of the structure is 19.50 m, the inflow threshold level is 193.32 mBf, and the outflow level is 193.50 mBf. There are three grooves in the shaft, one for placing the grates and two for the bund closure.

The discharge sluice enables the draining of the fishing pond and the replenishment of the Kerka branch in Csesztreg. The length of the structure is 26.60 m, the inflow threshold level is 191.80 mBf, the outflow level is 191.57 mBf. The pipe culvert is a 60 cm inner diameter concrete pipe with a casing, and the top level of the shaft is 194.49 mBf. Three grooves in the shaft ensure the placement of the grates and the double-row insert-board closure. At the end of the pipe culvert facing the flood reservoir, a flap closure prevents the flow of flood waters into the lake. The discharge channel leads from the discharge sluice to the Kerka bed, and empties into the Kerka on the upstream side of the water level regulating sluice, at the 40+925 km section. It is 664 m long, has a bottom width of 1.0 m, and a gradient of 1:1.5. The upper section of the Kerka is connected to the bed of the Csesztreg Kerka branch at the foot of the floodplain of the valley dam by a canal, so that by closing the Kerka water regulation lock, water can be supplied to the Csesztreg Kerka branch for water replenishment purposes. The size of the water area is practically 5.5 ha, its coastline is not very indented and is easily accessible. Its fish population - despite the fact that it was not previously a fishing area - is diverse. In addition to carp, there are breams, trotters, walleye, pike and perch among the predators, and several protected fish species also find their living conditions. We are not aware of any fish species that are of exceptional protection and occur only in the subject water area.
