The story of Lake Sárvíz in Gersekarát ended in January, but we didn't stop there, but immediately got to work in Dörösk! We have been working with our colleagues and partners to get as much and better out of the existing fishing areas as possible, and to complete all tasks that can be accomplished on our own within the framework of winter maintenance.

The work started with clearing the brush: we worked as a team to clear the shore, then we called in some mechanical help to tidy up the area. Then came the manual refinement again, so that everything would be really nice and tidy. With the end of winter, grassing, tree planting and other small-scale developments (e.g. restarting water blocks) will follow, so that everyone can find their way in a slightly smaller, but equally magical environment, as Lake Gersekaráti was.

The waterfront works were carried out in accordance with the reservoir's current water management regulations outside the vegetation period, so as not to damage the habitat of the fauna associated with the reservoir. Although the landscape is still a bit moonlike now, everything will turn green in spring, and a truly inviting waterfront will await all anglers! During the work, when the lake was not frozen, the first anglers had already arrived, and we could see some nice catches.

We would like to thank the nearly 6,500 anglers who renewed their licenses in the past 1.5 months for their trust! We are especially grateful to those who also purchased an annual regional license for the Vásárhely waters. Despite the aforementioned losses in Gersekarát, there are more of us than at this time last year, which is a huge motivation for us to continue working for the best waterfront conditions.

Special thanks to the Dörösk Municipality for its active cooperation during the works, to Vízéptek Kft. for its fast and efficient work, and to all the helpers who invested time, energy and enthusiasm in ensuring that this year's fishing season begins in Dörösk in the spring on a friendlier fishing stretch.

In the spring, not only will a tidy shoreline and a developing environment await anglers in Dörösk, but also fish stocking and fishing competitions, where we can “test” the new course together! We will continue the beautification – spring will soon be here and fishing can begin. We look forward to another great fishing season!

The cooperation agreement signed between MOHOSZ and our Association in December allows daily, weekly and annual fishing tickets issued for Vás waters to be valid for the Döröskei Reservoir from January 1, 2025 - without having to exchange for a separate regional ticket. ( We wrote about this in detail here. ) It is important to mention that this year the Vás territorial tickets did not increase in price, and thus the number of water areas available for fishing did not decrease, despite the fact that the local government will utilize the Sárvíz Lake in Gersekarát itself from February 1, 2025.

The validity of the Hungarian Fishing Cards issued in 2020 will last until January 31, 2025, while previously issued fishing cards expired on January 31, 2024. Those who have not renewed their cards this year will also need them when purchasing new documents. You can renew them online or in person at the associations when purchasing state documents. The renewal costs only 2,200 HUF and ensures that you can enjoy fishing carefree for another 5 years, as well as use the convenience of the electronic services provided by the MOHOSZ Fishing App, as well as the protection provided by the unified fishing insurance.

Further useful information:

From January, personal administration (e.g. ticket exchange, fishing card application, etc.) will be possible at the Association's customer service office in Vaskeresztő by prior appointment. Appointments can be requested by phone at +36 94-506-835; +36 70 3399 703, or by e-mail at info@vasivizeken.hu. After that, colleagues will continue to be at the disposal of fellow anglers in 2025 according to the following customer service order:

✅ Monday: 8:15 AM – 3:45 PM;
✅ Tuesday: 8:15 AM – 3:45 PM;
✅ Wednesday: 8:15 AM – 3:45 PM;
✅ Thursday: 8:15 AM – 3:45 PM;
✅ Friday: 8:15 AM – 2:45 PM;
❎ Saturday-Sunday: no customer service.
