On Wednesday, May 1, 2024, our 2024 Vasi Vizeken Best Sport Angler tournament started in Kerkafala, Zala county, according to tradition, the first round of which was the Vasi Vizeken-Garbolino-TackleBait Kéthátar Lake Cup. The announcement of our annual series was also a great success among the participants this year. The places available at our competitions are practically sold out by now. For the first round, more than 50 anglers entered the three categories and finally 53 competed for the podium places.

On Wednesday morning, the fishermen gathered early on the shore of the lake, where, thanks to the work of the local association, a nicely mowed waterfront and a fishing spot awaited the participants. During the opening ceremony in the morning , acting president Norbert Puskás greeted the fishermen on behalf of the Association. After the subsequent technical briefing, the raffle began with the participation of József Mesterházy, fish management and fish conservation group leader .

The 18 main competitors were divided into two sectors, on the Kerka stream side of the lake, the 29 anglers starting in the hobby adult category occupied three sectors, one of which was on the same side as the competitors, while the other two were on the side of the Kerkafalva settlement, the And 6 young anglers were placed on the shore from the road leading to the lake.

After everyone took their starting place, the preparation began, in the framework of which the bait was also checked. The four-hour race then began with the bagpipes. After the baits were deployed, it was already apparent in the first hour that today would not be about catching a large amount of fish. In the hobby sector on the Karkafalva side, a carp, crucian carp, and bream each jumped in, but in the other two hobby sectors there were already those who had to hunt for snipe in order to achieve a result in the competition. It was not easy for the anglers in the competition category either, those who managed to attract the beautiful healthy bream from the lake to the match rod were able to finish on the podium. Some of them, seeing the poor catching results, switched to scrambling at halftime, which meant enough catching for the midfield.

Among the hobby anglers, Ferenc Nagy (Kéthátar-tó Kerkafalva HE) was the most successful with a catch of 16,900 grams, in the competition category Kádi Szabolcs (Elektromosok SHE.) excelled with 8,780 grams. The youth competitors seized every opportunity to catch fish and successfully tackled the difficult course and almost everyone managed to land a fish, the most successful young man was Zsolt Bálint (Kéthátar-tó Kerkafalva HE.). In the hobby category, the best catches were caught using the feeder method.

During the competition, a real May 1 atmosphere prevailed on the beach, the fishermen helped each other, talked and joked. The weather was a bit muggy at times, but everyone had a good time despite the poor catches during the race.

In the hobby adult category, the podium winners were among the first in the three sectors. In the end, the "E" sector proved to be the strongest, as the winner of the category came out from here, who was Ferenc Nagy (Kéthátar-tó Kerkafalva HE.) with 16,900 grams. Second place was Zoltán Koppány Kovács (Ölbői Horgász-tó SHE.) with a catch of 1620 grams, Péter Csipszer (Ölbői Horgász-tó SHE.) took third place with a total weight of 640 grams.

In the competition category, Kádi Szabolcs (Elektromosok SHE.) performed best on this day, weighing 8,780 grams and pocketing the trophy. Bálint Varga (Elektromosok SHE.) took the silver medal with his performance of 4980 grams. The bronze medal - with second place in the sector - went to Gábor Hajba (Elektromosok SHE.) as a result of his catch of 4520 grams.

The boys proved to be very persistent throughout the day. Zsolt Bálint (Körmendi Munkás HE.) managed to get the most fish into the mouth, a total of 1760 grams. He was followed in line by Áron Hajós (Körmendi Munkás HE.) with 1440 grams, while Dávid Bálint (Körmendi Munkás HE.) could take the third place on the imaginary podium with a catch of 320 grams.

At the end of the competition, the HE management of Kerkafalv Kéthatár-tó treated all participants and their families with a bowl of delicious stew, for which we thank them!
