This time fishing luck did not favor the Hungarian team
On August 11th, this year's Austro-Hungarian friendly fishing competition took place on the lake in St. Margarethen, Austria, managed by the ASV Frühauf Sehestedt fishing association.
This year's annual competition is being invited by the Iron County Association, the best featured in our series, to recognize their achievements. Our team set off with 24 people in the rain in the morning on Sunday morning off Lake Abert.
After the arrival, after a short field visit, the starting positions were drawn and preparations could begin. Feeding started 5 minutes before the 10-hour start, and then the 4-hour race began. Almost without exception, everyone tried to gain advantage by using the botanical bot method.
In the cloudy, slightly cool weather, the fish appetite could not be complained at first, going head-to-head with smaller and larger carp from both teams. There were catches ranging from 2kg to 9kg, but in addition several 6-8kg amur and a couple of bream and crucian carp were caught.
Although some of our anglers had already tested their skills on this lake at a similar joint fishing competition a few years ago, the benefit of a "home course" was felt after a good hour. The sad time was replaced by the uninterrupted sunshine, which at the same time left the fish catchy.
This has caused a great deal of trouble for our anglers, who have tried to bait fish with many different baits and techniques, sometimes more or less successfully. However, several of our Austrian colleagues managed to get a good average catch throughout the race, which ultimately proved to be a decisive factor.
Towards the end of the race, it was almost certain that the "brother-in-law" had caught the fish this time. As proven by weighing, they managed to catch 166,150 grams of fish in four hours, resulting in an average catch of 7,562 grams. During the same period, the Iron delegation received 133,600 grams, which was an average of 5,567 grams.
In the next year, they will be able to keep the hiking cup of the friendly fishing competition in Austria.
In addition to the team competition, the best Hungarian and Austrian fishermen were also awarded. Individuals have the following outcomes:
