Lake Püspökmolnári would have been the last location of our 2024 Vasi Waters Best Sport Angler competition series for anglers competing in hobby adult and youth categories. As we already reported, due to the flooding of the Rába, we had to move the race to Gersekara as an emergency solution. Fortunately, this didn't cause too much trouble for either the organizers or the participants, so at the Vasi Vizeken-Garbolino-TackleBait Molnári-tó cup, a total of 33 people compared their skills in the two categories, at the end of which it was revealed who this year's champions were.

On Saturday morning, there was a lot of activity on the beach, even more excited competitors than usual gathered. For many, the stakes were high, as the field could actually prepare for a hobby championship final. Apart from this, the morning scenario was the usual one, after the registration, under the leadership of the competition specialist Milán Tóth, the formation of the sectors was discussed, which was followed by the opening, technical meeting and the drawing of places.

The 27 adult starters were assigned to three 9-person sectors, while the 6 juniors were assigned to one sector. Prior to this, the bait and feed were checked by competition organizer Imre Gerencsér and fishery guard Dániel Szabó with his participation. Since the competition judges found everything in order, the competition could start without confusion at 9:30.

Everyone used different fishing methods based on their own ideas. Classic feeder and fine rig fishing also had representatives with more or less success.

In the first half of the competition, the catches were still modest, but by the second half of the competition more and more places were filled. With a few exceptions both young and adult anglers chose the feeder method, with which crucians between 10-25 dkg caught an average of 5-6 kg on the hook. The small fish close to the shore for peccaries and breams was not effective now, because the feeder spreads consisting of crucian carp and a large bream and carp each showed a better sector result at the weigh-in. During the competition, a total of 189,420 grams of fish were put into the bags, mostly from crucian carp and bream.

Due to the extremely changeable weather throughout the week, there were no big record catches, but in return, a very exciting competition developed due to the close catch results. He was on the podium, where the better result was only 20 grams apart.

In the "A" sector , Zoltán Töreki (Répcelaki Város Bányász HE.) chose the most rewarding tactic, winning his sector with a catch of 13,760 grams. In the "B" sector , Róbert Horváth (Szentgotthárdi HE. ) finished first with 11,260 grams, while "C" Péter Takács (Kerkavalvi HE.) became the first in the sector with 13,880 grams.

At Ifik, no one achieved more than Máthé Zalán (Elektromosok SHE.)' s catch of 9,860 grams, so he was awarded the best cup of the day.

He was followed in the ranking by Áron Hajós (Körmendi Munkás HE.) with 7960 grams, then Dávid Bálint (Körmendi Munkás HE.) closed the podium with 7940 grams.

At the announcement of the results , executive chairman Norbert Puskás expressed his gratitude for the sportsmanlike participation, and thanked all the contestants and the organizers for their work. The winners were able to receive cups, medals, and certificates from him and competition manager Imre Gerencsér, and thanks to the main sponsor, the podium winners were also enriched with Tacklebait gift certificates in addition to souvenirs. The standings of the competition series will be updated next week, and this year's final results in the hobby category will be shown in advance.
