The series of county fishing competitions on the Sávíz Lake in Gersekarát started on Sunday with the Vasi Vizeken-Decathlon Carat Cup, which was attended by 52 pecs. In the hobby category, 33, four among the youngsters and 15 among the competitors competed for the first place.

The place draw after the morning registration was done by pulling out a drink at the adult competitors thanks to the offer of Győri Likőr Zrt. , And this time the children drew with table chocolates.

Due to the spring dam reconstruction works, dry weather and significant evaporation, the water level was rather low, so it was already foreseeable that the course would be difficult and large catches would be missed.

Already in the first hour of the race, it seemed that the larger cormorants that often appear here avoided hooks, small fish, and some carp were caught in the sack. Meanwhile, the rising wind and the high heat did not improve the fish's mood, although in the days before the competition, 1,400 kg of one and a half to two kilos of carp were stocked in the lake.

With an outstanding result of 21,840 grams, László Magyar , the SHE competitor of Elektromosok, finished the field. According to his own confession, there was no secret in his tactics, after his first carp catch, he set out on carp fishing and used a suitable, bone-mixed bait for this.

Behind him, the runner-up in the competitor category, Zsolt Horváth (Szentgotthárd HE), weighed only 1000 grams, and unfortunately many were left under a pound in the current "fish-poor" race. Dániel Sipos (Körmendi Munkás HE) finished third with 2880 grams.

Bence Tukarcs Balázs (Spartacus HE, 820 grams), Sánta Dávid (Körmendi Munkás HE 300 gr) and Rebeka Szabados (Spartacus HE 60 gr) were ranked among the youngsters.

In the hobby category, László Pajtli (Spartacus HE) won with a total catch of 4400 grams, he also managed to catch a beautiful grass carp on a hook. Attila Kádi (Répcelaki HE) finished in second place with a performance of 1620 grams, Gábor Bálint (Körmendi Munkás HE) closed with 1080 grams.

The awards were presented by István Pászthory, Mayor of Gersekarát and Miklós Seregi, President of the Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Associations . In addition to the cup, medal and commemorative card, this time, thanks to the naming sponsor of this year's competition series, the most successful competitors also received a Decathlon purchase voucher.

At the announcement of the results , Norbert Puskás, the executive chairman of the Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Anglers' Associations, said: it is worth considering setting the date for the Gersekarát Cup later in April in the hope of bigger catches.

The county competition series started in the previous years, traditionally on the Two Boundary Lakes in Kerkafalva, which was missed this year due to the viral situation, but also the pecans will have plenty of opportunities to compete with each other. The usual venues will be visited by anglers again this year: there will also be a county team competition and the Lake Abért Cup, but the dates of several competitions have been postponed to September.
The next anglers will meet in Püspökmolnári on Saturday, June 20th.
