Milán Gersei won this year's Karát Cup with a catch of 21 kg

The second stage of the county competition series of the Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Associations called "Best Sport Angler of Vasi Vizek" started in Gersekarát on Sunday morning, where a total of 50 people competed in three categories.

The organizers divided the 17 competitors into two sectors, the 27 amateur hobbyists into three sectors, and the 6 IFs into one sector. It started to rain during the registration and it was clear in the morning that all the competitors were looking forward to an exciting day. Since there were no significant changes in the rules, after a quick technical meeting, everyone was able to quickly occupy their fishing spot and preparations for the harsh weather began. On the occasion of Children's Day, the Association treated the youth fishermen with a Vasi waters fishing cap and a bar of chocolate during the raffle.

While the hobby anglers used feeder rods, the competitors preferred match and stacking rods and spike rods for the competition. In the meantime, the organizing team went on a bait inspection tour, where they found everything in order, so the fishing competition could start without any problems.

After the initial sound of the bagpipes, the first fish were quickly hooked, as was already seen in the first minutes, a prolific catch of fish will be necessary for the podium places.

Several of them managed to hook one or two nicer carp, but there were also larger bream, bream, and crucian carp in the bags. In the competitive sectors, several people focused on catching small fish from the coast, while in the hobby category they "hunted" for larger fish. Overall, it can be said that the course gave a lot of bites and fish everywhere, as there were sectors where there was no chance of a good result for less than ten kilos of fish. Among the competitors , Milán Gersei / HE Körmendi Munkás did the best this day, who won the category with his catch of 21,000 grams and was also the angler who caught the most fish of the day. Not far behind him, the winner of the other sector , Zoltán Török / Elektromosok SHE./ finished in second place with 17,880 grams. The bronze medal went to Norbert Misák / Répcelaki HE./ , who could also be proud of his performance in the second sector weighing 16,920 grams.

In the hobby adult category, the final winner was chosen from among the three sector winners, who this time was Róbert Horváth / Szentgotthárdi HE./ . Until the weigh-in, he managed to land no less than 12,060 grams of fish. Jánny Benjamin /Elektromosok SHE./ finished in second place thanks to his catch of 8,200 grams. And László Horváth /Körmendi Munkás HE./ took the third step of the podium with his performance of 6820 grams.

In the Ifi category, six started this time, which is gratifying compared to the number of previous years, and they caught a lot of fish. A very important goal for the Association is to make young people familiar with and fall in love with fishing. We hope that as many young pecs as possible will be encouraged to test and develop their skills even in competitive conditions!

The best in the category, this time, was Áron Hajós / HE Körmendi Munkás/ , who deserves special praise for his catch of 15,840 grams. The silver medal went to László Czékus / Sárvíz-tavi HE./ , who managed to present a catch with a total weight of 12,260 grams at the weigh-in. Our pecás Noel Tóth /Csepregi Répcementi HE./ had no reason to be sad today, as his performance of 9,560 grams meant the bronze medal.

At the 2024 Karát Cup, the competitors caught a total of 394,540 grams of fish, which represented an average catch of 7,891 grams per individual.

During the announcement of the results , István Pászthory, mayor of Gersekarát and József Mesterházy, head of the fish farming group, and Norbert Puskás, executive president of the Association, presented the cups and certificates to the best winners, as well as valuable gift vouchers courtesy of TackleBait Fishing Store, the main sponsor of the competition series.
