On Saturday, June 24, 2023, the VASI VIZEKEN DECATHLON COUNTY YOUTH FISHING COMPETITION was held on Lake Celldömölki. The event, which was realized with the support of the MOHOSZ HUNOP grant, was only open to students participating in secondary school education. The competition consisted of four competitions, in which 5 young people compared their skills.

Linter Hunor won the VASI VIZEKEN DECATHLON COUNTY YOUTH FISHING CONTEST

True to tradition, this year's Fishing Tournament was prepared by Fisheries Guard Tamás Karácsonyi and Fisheries Guard Balázs Szekeres with the cooperation of the fishing association. 5 young people entered the competition this year, 4 boys and 1 girl. The competitors arrived at the Celldömölki lake at 6:30. Four of the 5 young competitors are from Celldömölki HE. was a member, so they could enjoy the advantage of the home field in terms of knowledge of the place. This year made the opening and the draw a bit more difficult, as a stormy northwest wind prevailed in addition to the overcast weather. Tamás Karácsonyi is the professional Fishery Warden of the Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Associations, and the Celldömölki HE. Column members welcomed the 5 young people who applied this year.

After the opening, the series of theoretical tasks followed, which included fish protection issues, fishing ethics, and important things to know about size and prohibition restrictions. The fish identifications also had puzzling questions, and the young people also had to give an account of their knowledge of protected fish. The 5 young people had up to an hour to complete the test, but without exception, everyone finished earlier. Hunor Linter and András Csizmazia were the most skilled of the 5 competitors in the theoretical part, but the other competitors followed them with only a minimal gap.

This year, the contestants had to put together a delicious rig with small fish with a point stick. The Association provided everything, the young people only needed their knowledge and dexterity. In the evaluation, the competition organizers took into account if someone successfully tied the hook, professionally tied the lead to the main line, and placed the leads (divided) correctly under the float. In DIY this year, 3 competitors achieved maximum scores, so the field started to get even tighter after two competitions.
Thanks to the quick dexterity of the young people, the packing and preparation for the 3-hour race began in their already drawn places. Parents and friends could help the youngsters during this time, but the first word of the bagpipe, which meant feeding, the contestants could only count on themselves.

The course proved to be difficult as the morning's moderate wind became gusty. Thus, the stacking method only used the physical and mental endurance of the participants. The competitors mostly targeted smaller white fish and dwarf catfish. Taking advantage of his good luck , Linter Hunor dictated a very fast-paced fishing to the others from the beginning. The more skillful ones didn't have a problem with having to fish in the short term, since the dwarf catfish and crucian carp stood up for the good feeding. In the middle part of the course, András Csizmazia tried to keep up with Hunor Linter, but 1 minute before the whistle, he hooked a sizeable carp, which he could only have snatched after the word of the bagpipe, so the fish would have been invalid.

After the quick weigh-in, Hunor Linter took first place with 12,100 grams, András Csizmazia came in second with 3,060 grams, while Sára Szélesi took third place, like last year, with 2,400 grams. Hunor Linter and András Csizmazia, who have been regular competitors for years, went head to head after 3 races

So there was only one competition left in this year's fishing competition, which was none other than the target throw. The weather did not help the competitors' task at all because they had to aim at 10 and 15 meters in gale-force winds. They had 3 practice opportunities from both distances, followed by 5 sharp throws. Several people did well in the ten meters, but the competitors had a harder time in the fifteen meters due to the hurricane-force wind. In this competition, András Csizmazia performed outstandingly, as he scored 86 points out of 100 available. This puts him on an equal footing with Linter Hunor.

After completing the last task, the long-awaited highlight of the day arrived, the announcement of the results. While the organizers were summarizing the results, the young people waited with tense attention to see what position they could achieve.

This year's Fishing Contest was won by Linter Hunor (Répcelaki HE.) with stable fishing, good rigging and good theoretical knowledge. András Csizmazia (Lokomotiv HE.) finished in second place with equal points. Between the two young people, fishing decided the fate of first place. Bronze medalist this time was Sára Szélesi (Lokomotiv HE.), who started as the only girl.

The first three places received equipment and sticks of great value with the support of MOHOSZ,
and they advanced to the national summer camp organized by MOHOSZ.
The Association and Dechatlon's Szombathely Store did not forget about the others either, as all the starters received a gift package.
We would like to thank Hencz Kornél, the Deputy Mayor of Celldömölk, for his participation in the award ceremony!
Special thanks go to Celldömölki HE. his active participation, respectively
Róbert Rákóczi and Bagolyvár Pizzeria és Söröző for the lunch offered to the competitors and organizers.
