On August 8, the federal fishing camp in Vaskeresztes, which has decades of tradition, began, where young people between the ages of 8 and 16 can learn about fishing and spend quality time together in the framework of various programs. On Monday morning, after arrival, the camp started with an opening and briefing, which will be held at the Alpesi Fogadó and Fishing Tourist Center. The thirty young people were accommodated in the inn's rooms and in tents in the indoor event space.

It was a fishing camp rich in experiences in Vaskeresztes

On the first day of the program realized with the support of the HUNOP program and DECATHLON of the Hungarian National Fishing Association , after the greeting and technical information of Norbert Puskás, the executive president , the young people were randomly drawn into teams of four. Before lunch, everyone could learn hook tying and other rigging from the camp leader Ákos Kovács and the team of camp leaders who help him.

In the afternoon, the fisher's boat took center stage, and teams of four could test their rowing skills for a time under the supervision of the camp leader. Before and after the delicious pizza dinner at the Alpesi Fogadó, there was also the much-awaited fishing, where even the more skillful and luckier anglers managed to lure some really nice fish into their mouths.

On the morning of the second day, a couple of them grabbed a pike stick at dawn and caught a pike before breakfast. After the wake-up call, camp leader Tamás Németh held a morning exercise to give everyone a fresh start to the day. After the Alpesi Fogadó buffet breakfast, the first camp lecture took place, where Tamás Németh and Balázs Szekeres talked about fish and fish protection.

After some rest, the target board was set up to practice the casting competition. Before lunch, we still managed to do some fishing and hook a few fish. In the afternoon, the campers traveled to Burg, Austria, where the young people went sliding, bathed, and some talked and played on the beach. After the splash, Balázs Németh, world championship silver medalist angler, gave an interactive feeder fishing demonstration. After the hearty dinner, the night fishing began, during which the camp leaders and campers compare their fishing skills in a random peca competition.

The third day of the fishing camp started with an exciting presentation, as Norbert Misák - who was the winner of the Vas County Youth Championship held on Lake Abért - gave an interactive fishing rod demonstration to the camp's residents. He talked about the feed materials, showed how the finished feed material can be colored, and the children could also mix it with what he later started fishing with. He gave his place to the children almost immediately, and he didn't have to wait long: the first carp was hooked.

While the children were fishing, we talked with the camp leader Ákos Kovács , who answered our question: the two youngest campers - who participate in the programs in the daycare system - are eight years old, but like the older ones, they are good at fishing, they can tie a hook and dip the fish they catch. "We have an easier job this year, as the work of the camp leaders is assisted by two youth leader candidates who, although they are camp residents, help us a lot. Children are happy to participate in all programs, but they like fishing the most. Sometimes they sit on the lakeshore late at night, and in the morning the morning hits them next to the lake. They really enjoy the presentations, they like to learn and try new things for them." - said Ákos Kovács, who expressed his joy about the fact that all the children are real fishermen, who came here because they really like fishing. "Fortunately, everyone has already caught a fish, some of them caught a four-kilo amur on their hook, or a bigger carp, and even a ham caught in their mouths. I definitely consider it important that everyone had a sense of success. At the beginning of the camp, we divided them into teams of four, each competition is based on these, it shows that they are happy to help each other and cheer each other on," added Ákos Kovács.

Meanwhile, a target throwing competition started in the back part of the playground, then on land they could also try to lure the plush fish onto a "magnetic hook", and it was also revealed which team could throw the rubber boots the farthest.

When the children weren't besieging Norbert Misák about rod fishing, we also asked him where he likes to fish the most. "Lake Abért is my favorite, I mostly fish everywhere with a long rod, although sometimes I also find a tip rod. My biggest catch happened two weeks ago: I caught a 9.5 kg grass carp in Hegyeshalom with a fishing rod, it has been swimming somewhere since then, because I release all the fish, the fish are my friends. I started fishing with a spit rod with Ákos (camp leader Ákos Kovács), he taught me everything, I took it from him. I participate in a lot of competitions, I go wherever I can, because this is the real relaxation for me." - said Norbert, whose 10th camp this is. "I started as a camper when I was very young, and now I participate in the programs as a camp leader. It's completely different to be here like this, but the main thing is that I feel very comfortable here. It's good to tell stories to the children, it's good to see that they are interested in the topic, and they like to listen and try it out too."

After the delicious lunch, they put their skills to the test in a theoretical competition, and then the most anticipated fishing competition could begin. After the eventful day, the dinner was good, and those who still felt like it could spend their time by the lake in the hope of catching fish in the evening.

On Thursday, the team traveled to the Abért lakes as part of a bus trip, where they participated in an exciting fishing session. A good number of carp, crucian carp and other fish were also caught on the hook.

After lunch, the results were announced, where the organizers awarded prizes for team competitions and individual performances throughout the week. In the friendly team competition, Sensas Team (Bálint Bálint, Ludván Flórián, Saller Máté, Gergő Kiss) could take the third place on the imaginary podium, the Szoty Bubi Team (Taschler Marcell, Áron Fülöp, Ábel Fülöp, Linter Hunor) took the second place, while the top place the team of Amúúúr (Dániel Soós, Ábel Tüskés, Sebastian Jaworeck, Bálint Siebert) was allowed to play.

In the individual competitions, Taschler Marcell proved to be the best, ahead of Barnabás Kiss, second, and Ábel Tüskés, third. The individual competitors who achieved the position were enriched with valuable fishing equipment, while the teams received roughness packages. Of course, every camper received a souvenir card and food, so no one went home empty-handed after a week.

After the announcement of the results, as a closing program of the camp, the braver ones took a fishing test, so in the future, if they become youth fishermen, they do not have to apply for a fishing test, because they fulfilled this obligation within the framework of the camp.

On Friday, after the end of the camp, cleaning and packing followed, and after preparing packages, there was even a chance to go fishing. Judging from the camp farewells and smiles, the organizers managed to ensure that the children returned home rich with experiences.

We would like to thank Ákos Kovács, Árpád Horváth, Szabolcs Kádi, Balázs Szekeres, Márk Máté Koltai, Norbert Misák, Tamás Németh, Hunor Linter, and Patrik Pulay for their great help in organizing the camp!

Thanks also to the Alpesi Fogadó team for the delicious food and hospitality!
We wish all young people a pleasant summer!
