Experiences and common goals at the national youth meeting

Last Friday, the 8th National Youth Leaders' Meeting was held in Budapest, where representatives of fishing organizations shared their experiences and presented their youth programs. The Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Associations (VMSZ) was also represented at the event, and Norbert Puskás, executive chairman of VMSZ and vice chairman of MOHOSZ, presented the youth education work of the Vas fishing community.

At the meeting , Zsolt Komáromy, Chairman of the Youth and Education Committee (IOSZB), presented the results of the 2024 Fishing Education and Training Program (HUNOP) , during which 9,701 children nationwide participated in events supported by MOHOSZ. Norbert Kovács, member of the IOSZB, highlighted that in 2024, 634 children's and youth fishing programs were organized nationwide, which is a significant increase compared to previous years.

At the meeting, several member organizations presented their youth programs, including the Nógrád County Association of Fishing Associations and the Vas County Association. In Vas County, the association and its member organizations organize numerous programs for children and youth anglers. The programs include school fishing competitions, schools, fishing circles, demonstration fishing, competitions, fishing camps and trips organized to FeHoVa exhibitions. The association aims to provide young people with an organized waterfront environment, where they have the opportunity to experience the joy of catching fish and being close to nature. Fishing is not only a sport, but also a community experience that connects generations on the waterfront, and in today's digitalized world, it plays a particularly important role in educating people to love nature. - concluded Norbert Puskás.

During the afternoon program, Zsolt Komáromy drew attention to the 2025 programs and application opportunities, and then IOSZB member Imre Biri took over the floor, who spoke about other programs of the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County Association of Sport Fishing Associations - not supported by MOHOSZ - such as the TeSzedd! campaign, Anglers for Children, and the Weekend Fishing School.

At the end of the meeting, there was also an opportunity for consultation, where participants could share their experiences and suggestions regarding future youth programs.
