Bream and threshold were in the lead role in the season opener
This year, too, the annual cup series of the Iron County Association of Sport Fishing Associations began with a competition on Lake Two Borders near the village, on Saturday.
The main difference in the competition compared to the previous ones was that due to the longer-than-expected coronavirus epidemic, only certified competitors could take part in the event this time, and the association canceled the competition for the hobby and youth category, which was also announced in advance.
The rules were also stricter, limiting, for example, the number of participants who could only take one escort with them, while in order to avoid groupings, the places were drawn online and only the winners could be present at the results announcement.
All this was told to our paper by Norbert Puskás, the executive president of the association and the vice-president of the Hungarian National Fishermen's Association. He also added that the Vas association has several water surfaces in Zala, including Lake Kéthatár near Kerkafalva, which is why they are holding the opening round of their annual cup series at this location.
The competition was attended by 17 anglers who, divided into two sectors, could try to catch fish for four hours. Successful ones were those who immediately experimented with small fish, because this time they were mainly hooked by bream, terns and curls, only one competitor managed to catch carp.
The winner was Bálint Varga from Szombathely with 13,380 grams, who took about 150 fish out of the water. The second place was won by Gábor Hajba, also a sector winner - he also came from Szombathely - while the third place went to Viktor Kovács from Körmend.
