A dwarf catfishing cup was organized on Lake Abért

On our national holiday, on August 20, 2023, the Abért-tavi dwarf catcher cup was held, in which a total of 21 people started in two categories. Unfortunately, the carp of the Abért II lake were hungry, so they appeared on the hook in good numbers, making it difficult and taking valuable time from the minnow catfish catch, despite this, we managed to reduce the unwanted stock by 60 kilograms.

After the morning registration , the main organizer Zoltán Török held the technical meeting of the competition, explained the main rules, and then the draw began. The 19 adults tested their skills in three starting sectors, while the young people tested their skills in one sector. In the competition, 1 rod could be used at the same time, and no more than 1 single hook can be used on the rig. Apart from spinning, you could fish with any method, the participants had to catch as many dwarf catfish as possible in 4 hours.

Only dwarf catfish counted in the competition, any other fish caught had to be released immediately. Interestingly, 2 gray catfish were also hooked and, of course, immediately returned to the life support element. Many people chose the floating method (rack, spit, match), but on this day, method feeders had the most catches.

Gábor Hajba won the competition from sector C with a catch of 9,980 grams, followed by Zoltán Török, the winner of sector B with a catch of 8,940 grams, and third place went to András Bárdics in sector A with 3,410 grams.

László Czékus emerged victorious from two young pecás, he caught 1160 grams, while Bálint Somogyi took second place with 390 grams.

The ladies were represented by Andrea Sántáné Tóth and contributed to the reduction of the dwarf catfish stock in Lake Abért with a catch of 2,560 grams.
