Rába-Szentgotthárd region
ShareRiver Rába reaches Hungary above Alsószölnök, the section belonging to the County Alliance goes from there to the dam of Nick. The Rába is characterized by low water levels, which can be extremely inflated during floods. It has a tremendous amount of faces, thanks to the enormous number of corners and buildings (power plants, dams, bridge remnants, etc.) it has to face during its journey. Usually shallow, some dense sections and water channels are deeper.
It crosses the border with a swollen section. The part above Alsószölnö is a slow-flowing, winding canal. Under the dam, it has a mirror-like water surface, but it becomes stream-like again, as it reunites with the artificial channel. At Szentgotthárd, there is a re-swollen, great section with wide, mirror-like water surface, then, as a narrow stream, it reaches the power plant and dam at Magyarlak-Csörötnek.
