Rábasömjén Lake

Of the several lakes along the main road 84, only 2 are considered fishing waters today. The other lakes have been swamped for more than 20 years. The lakes are parallel to the road, for which the gravel was mined.

A narrow strip of forest separates the lake from the road. On the opposite side of the road, the shore of the lake is highly indented, and several bays diversify the water. There is significant aquatic vegetation and trees on the shore.

The water in the lakes comes from the underground water supply. The bed is uneven, the water depth varies between 1-4 meters, and after the 1-2 meter coastal strip it suddenly deepens. The lake bottom is mostly muddy, and to a lesser extent gravelly. There are swampy areas overgrown with aquatic vegetation next to both lakes. Mining ceased a long time ago, so the lake's character no longer shows the characteristics typical of mining lakes.

Of the fish fauna of the lake, anglers catch the most of the stocked bream, carp and pike. In the catch statistics, perch and grass carp also occur in significant quantities, but there are also golden carp and bream in the lake. The fish in the lake grow quickly.

To properly approach our Rábasömjén Fishing Lake, please use the municipal road shown in the picture - in yellow. The previously very poor quality municipal road has recently been renovated, so it can be used by everyone without any problems.
We kindly ask you not to use the - previous - access from main road 84, as it will be private property and a construction area.
