ATTENTION: The ownership of the lake has been transferred to private ownership since February 1, 2026, and fishing is not allowed until the new fish management comes into effect. Until January 31, 2026, fishing in the water area is still possible with valid Vás fishing licenses.

The birth of the Nagypirit gravel mine lake can be traced back to the 1950s and 1960s. The lake, carved out by gravel mining, has been fished since the 1980s. The many interconnected basins are separated from each other by earth embankments, peninsulas, and headlands.

The water is laden with seaweed and is clear. Depths of three meters are not uncommon, which is why they do not support, and in fact, they expressly prohibit, fishing in the lake. However, fishing can only be done effectively in winter, as the seaweed that grows in the warmer months makes the terrain significantly more difficult.

Its main fish is pike, but a good number of bream, carp, and grass carp can also be found in the lake.
