Winter maintenance is underway on the fishing lakes
Last winter, although the fishing ponds froze over, life did not stop around the association's house. With the help of our fishing guard colleagues and fellow volunteer anglers, we are constantly preparing for spring on the shores of the fishing waters, and this is when the shores and equipment of our fishing waters are monitored and maintained.
The changeable winter weather and frequent rainfall in January tested the patience of our fishkeepers, but those who wanted to fish were happy to learn that waterfront maintenance work has begun on the Sárvíz lake in Gersekarát, the Vasvári lake, the Magyarszecsőd gravel mine lake, the Mersevát lake, the Celldömölki lake Téglagyári and Park lakes, the Gencsapát fishing lake, and the Újperint gravel mine lake.
The basic goal is for the visitors to the Association's water areas to find cultured and accident-free conditions again for the opening of the spring season. Accordingly, the vegetation and waterside on the lake shores will be maintained, cut back, and trees will be trimmed, during which our employees will pay extra attention to the protection of wildlife, so only the plant parts that hinder fishing or are dangerous for accidents are removed and collected.
In addition to this, at the beginning of each year welfare equipment, benches, tables, covered seats, bacon grills, and camp toilets placed on the waterfront with the help of private or grant funding are also inspected. In the coming weeks, the supervision of the playgrounds established next to larger water areas, which also comply with EU rules, will be carried out by an accredited organization.
Unfortunately, our colleagues were able to quickly establish at all locations that the environment of our maintained and regularly installed fishing waters - unfortunately, in addition to a few fishermen - is not respected by some of the visitors and walkers who are not devoted to fishing, despite the placed waste collectors, a large amount of "non-fishing" waste was collected. It is important to mention that, despite our repeated appeals, many people consider the built-in bacon ovens as waste containers. We ask everyone to put the garbage in the bins and not try to burn it in the bacon ovens. During the months of February and March, maintenance work will continue on the waterfront, in which we would like to thank our volunteers for their help!
In addition to this, we would like to remind our fishermen that, based on the current fishing rules of their Association, it is forbidden to fish in garbage places or to leave waste on our shores, and our fish wardens may withdraw their fishing license from those who violate these rules.
We respectfully ask the hikers and our fishermen who visit the shores to please take the waste they bring home with them and/or place it in a waste container, as a "golden rule" of cultured behavior in nature!
