We celebrate this year's Fish Day with native river fish

At the suggestion of the Hungarian Aquaculture Society, the Department of Fish Management of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Hungarian National Fishing Association, the Hungarian Aquaculture and Fisheries Interprofessional Organization, and the Hungarian Association of Aquarists previously made a joint decision that starting in 2017, March 20 of each year will be Fish Day. The leaders of the Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Associations and the Győr-Moson-Sopron County Association of Sport Fishing Associations have decided to strengthen the native river fish stock of the Rába River this year on the occasion of Fish Day.

The Rába River is the third longest river in Hungary and the most significant domestic tributary of the Danube. The 795.7-hectare section of the Rába river from the national border to the Nicki dam - with water area code 18-021-1-1 - is located through the MOHOSZ in the sublease of the Vas County Association of Sportfishing Associations, while the sublease holder of the 450.4 hectare section below the Nicki dam is the Győr-Moson-Sopron County Association of Sport Fishing Associations. The Rába river, which is popular among fishermen, was divided in two by the Nick power plant, but thanks to the agreement between the MOHOSZ and the two regional associations, for nearly seven years now, approx. All fellow anglers can fish on a 5-5 km stretch without any problems with their county's regional ticket.

The next stage of the regional cooperation between the Associations will arrive next week, when many thousands of one-year-old specimens of very rarely available native fish species will be placed on the Vasi and Győr sections of the Rába River. According to the plans, the following placements will take place on March 21, 2023, the day after the national Fish Day event:

On the Vas county section in more detail from Alsószölnök: to Nick:

7500 pieces of mullet (between 8-13 cm),
5000 lumps (between 10-15 cm),
2500 bales (between 10-15 cm)

GyMS county section in more detail:

4000 pieces of mullet (between 8-13 cm),
2500 lumps (between 10-15 cm),
1200 bales (between 10-15 cm)

The Győr Association is starting the installation on the Mosoni-Danube in Győr on the occasion of Fish Day. The event will take place on March 21 at 10 a.m. on the Révfalu side of the river in the section under the Széchenyi Bridge.
The Mosoni-Danube river (08-140-1-1) meanders for 125 km from Rajka to its confluence with the Danube in Vének. The fish population of the river is extremely rich, in addition to river fish, the population of carp, bream and predatory fish is significant. The river has already provided the fishermen of the county with many capital fish, carp and carp weighing more than 10 kg are not uncommon. Thanks to its natural beauty and fish fauna, the Mosoni-Danube is one of the county's favorite fishing waters.
The following installation will take place in Győr:

3500 pieces of mullet (between 8-13 cm),
2500 lumps (between 10-15 cm),
1300 bales (between 10-15 cm)

The fish come from the special legal organization of MOHOSZ, Megafish Kft. in Baja, and the fish farmer Dr. Dániel Kovács-Bokor, who produces the fish, also participates in the placement. The planned joint end of fishing will take place on the Nick section of the Rába river, expected to be on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. We will report in detail about the holiday installations.
