Vote for the fish of the year!
For almost ten years now, the Hungarian Haltani Society has been announcing the "Fish of the Year" election every year, where the winner will be the one who receives the most votes from the members of the Society and everyone else until 31 December.
This year, the red-billed bream was able to carry this title, and the year before it went to Bali and three this year to take first place: pike, perch, and German bass. All three species are indigenous species, the German bass are protected, but their competitors are excellent predators of the Hungarian fishing sport, as well as the outstanding bases of Hungarian fish gastronomy. In Vas County, pike and perch can be found in almost all stagnant waters, but German bass can rarely be caught in the Rába River.
