The shore of the Alpine Lake in Vaskerestes was noisy with children's noise.
On May 15, the lower-grade students of the Dr. Csepregi János Horváth Elementary School visited our Association's Fishing Tourism Center in Vaskerestes as part of the MOHOSZ HUNOP Student Program, where a day full of experiences, learning and, of course, fishing awaited them.
After the children arrived, they gathered in the event tent, where Norbert Puskás, the executive president of the Association, greeted the participants and their accompanying teachers, and then presented the day's program.

During the first professional program , Balázs Szekeres, a fisheries officer, gave a presentation about the Vásárlón waters and their rich wildlife. Following the presentation, the students were able to demonstrate their newly acquired knowledge by completing a short test. The participants were divided into two teams, the “Best Anglers” and the “Fishing Kings” teams, and the children completed the task with almost flawless results.
Next, fisheries officer István Fördős introduced the students to the basics and most important things to know about fishing. The practical program started with playful competitions: first, the teams competed in a plush fish fishing contest, then they tested their skills in solving a fish puzzle.
The most anticipated part of the day was of course the real fishing at the Alpesi Lake in Vaskerestes. One team was helped by Balázs, the other by István. The children learned the basics of hook tying and bait mixing, and then the fishing began.
The young anglers proved to be extremely skilled: a total of about 20-25 trout were caught, so the lake shore was soon filled with excited children's noise and a series of joyful moments.

Before the announcement of the results, of course, a well-deserved lunch could not be missed, and then the awards ceremony followed, before which the children surprised the organizers with a spectacular dance they had rehearsed in advance. The participating children received fishing gear, soft drinks, sweets, a certificate and a cup for their persistent participation. At the end of the tight competition, the “Fishing Kings” team proved to be the winner of the day.

We trust that for many young people this day was an experience of a lifetime and even the first defining moment in their love of fishing.
