Regional association coordination in the spirit of cooperation
On November 20, 2024, a regional fishing association meeting took place at the headquarters of the Pest Fishing Association of the Fishing Associations, which was attended by the leaders and operational staff of the associations, Ivancsóné Dr. At the invitation of Vice Presidents Zsuzsanna Horváth and Norbert Puskás MOHOSZ. In recent years, the same circle of guests has already met in Veszprém, Győr, Vaskeresztes and Tatabánya. The purpose of the event was to review the current situation of the member associations, share their results and discuss the tasks ahead of them.
In addition to the host member association , the Komárom-Esztergom County Fishing Association, the Győr-Moson-Sopron County Association of Sport Fishing Associations, the Bakony-Balaton Fishing Association, the Balaton Fishing Association, the Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Associations and the Fishing Associations participated in the meeting Leaders of the Zala County Association.
András Dolhai, the president of the Pest County Fishing Association, explained in detail the activities of the member association and the results of the last three years he led. He pointed out that the organization has expanded significantly, they have been enriched with new member associations and the number of anglers in the 72 member associations is constantly increasing. The increase in the number of children and youth fishermen is particularly noteworthy, which was also facilitated by the MOHOSZ HUNOP programs achieved with the active participation of the member association.
The meeting covered a number of topics, for example, it was suggested that stricter action is needed against organizations that handle the free fishing test irregularly. It was also agreed that those applying for the exam should report their absence on time, otherwise sanctions could be imposed.
The registration of fish management rights in the Land Registry would be important for all fishing organizations, because when there is a change in ownership, those entitled to fish management often receive information later or not at all. The renewal of water rights operating permits for fishing ponds involves significant difficulties, both from an administrative and financial point of view. The administrative obstacles necessary for these remain unsolved in many cases due to the absence of the consent of the owners of the respective fishing ponds. The participants of the consultation also discussed the costs and anomalies arising in connection with SZÉP card and bank card payments related to the exchange of fishing tickets.
The question of the long-term involvement of member associations without fishing water, but with a large number of members, received special attention. It arose that associations of this type must also take responsibility for the maintenance and fish conservation of the state waters - MOHOSZ - that their members regularly use for fishing. This cooperation can contribute to community-level sustainability and improve the condition of fishing waters. It was also about the situation of the Association of Balaton Region Angling Associations, created by the merger of the two MOHOSZ member associations near Lake Balaton, and the experiences of the transformation so far.
Norbert Puskás, vice president of MOHOSZ, and Ivancsóné Dr. Vice-president Zsuzsanna Horváth recorded them and they will be submitted to the MOHOSZ presidency for discussion in the next period.
Norbert Puskás, the vice-president of MOHOSZ, emphasized at the meeting that communication of MOHOSZ's grants is also key for all member organizations that have received support. Every year, MOHOSZ supports fish stocking, fish conservation and the maintenance of the waterfront environment, as well as the education of youth and the next generation, with hundreds of millions of forints. Through children's camps, youth competitions and other programs, the MOHOSZ-HUNOP programs help thousands of children more widely every year. At the end of the event, a discussion was held about the current affairs of the recently adopted National Fishing Tourism Strategy and the development plans of the member organizations. The aim of the strategy is to provide historical development to the infrastructure supporting fishing tourism in the region in the next 5 years.
The meeting ended with a visit to the local administrative office and exam venue, as well as a joint lunch. The meeting was an important step in order to strengthen cooperation and common thinking at the federal level, paying particular attention to the regular operation of fishing organizations and the representation of the interests of fishermen. The next regional meeting is expected to be held in Zalaegerszeg in the first half of next year.
