Millions in subsidies for domestic fishing communities
In the future, grant-based and normative-based fishing organization subsidies in excess of HUF 1 billion per year may open new horizons for fishing communities, said Minister of Agriculture István Nagy at the annual report of the Hungarian National Fishermen's Association (MOHOSZ).
The Minister emphasized that the MOHOSZ OHSZK support is available to all fishing organizations that have real performance and operate legally and transparently.
He emphasized that the primary goal is to create complex fishing service and fishing tourism development points at the national level within the framework of the National Fishing Network Program.
There are about 2,200 registered fisheries water areas in Hungary, of which the vast majority of all state-owned natural water areas belong to the organizational system of MOHOSZ.
This is the area where the lag is greatest , the infrastructure of fishing grounds has deteriorated in previous decades - both in the interest of domestic and international tourism - needs to be developed, the Minister of Agriculture emphasized.
The Ministry of Agriculture considers the further facilitation of the lives of fishermen to be a priority task in the future, so the electronicisation of the system will continue in the future, and the online purchase process of fishing documents will be simplified. They will also strengthen the supply of equipment to support the tasks of fishing organizations.
At the initiative of the Ministry, the legal background may also be modernized , as a result of which a fishery management environment can be developed from 2021 onwards.
In September, the number of registered anglers fishing organizations has reached 700 thousand, moreover, during a pandemic triggered by many of their license - said Lajos Szucs, Chairman of the National Federation of Hungarian Anglers (MOHOSZ). He added that this year, the number of new anglers has increased by more than 135,000 due to the whitening of the system.
The President emphasized that in the last five years the Hungarian fishing community had expanded spectacularly , and that the composition according to age and gender had also developed interestingly. The data of the “angler korfa” show that the majority of active age groups in sport anglers, but the proportion of children and women is also becoming more and more significant , the president of MOHOSZ pointed out.
According to the announcement of the annual report, last year the amount received from state fishing documents reached HUF 980 million, which was sent to member associations and associations through internal tenders and public procurement procedures. The organization of MOHOSZ currently has 26 regional member associations, 1,206 fishing associations, as well as 17 special economic companies , which were able to spend the proceeds on, among other things, the education of young fishermen, education, the improvement of waterfronts, and the preservation and improvement of water quality.
