Keeping the Sárvíz lake in Gersekarat is at stake!

The 1st Vasi Vizeken Bárátságos Bojlis Fishing Tournament took place last week, where the anglers present expressed not only with words, but also with actions, that they want to keep the lake. During the competition, a collection of signatures was started in order to keep the fishing rights of the lake under Federal management. You can also join the civil signature collection online, but anyone can sign the petition in person in several places in the Gersekarát-Vasvár-Körmend area. We are counting on everyone to sign, for whom it is important that the lake remains under the management of our Association and that, starting next year, a separate territorial fishing license for the lake does not have to be changed after 15 years.

Vas Népe also reported on it earlier, the fishing rights of the Gersekarát Sárvíz lake have been managed by the Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Associations since January 1, 2009, and the usufructuary lease expires on January 31, 2025. However, on September 16, without any signs and despite all promises, the settlement board decided to reject the association's offer and take the lake's fish farming utilization "into its own hands". The case has now dragged on to the point where civilians have launched a petition. Special thanks go to László Szántai and Gábor Mozsár , who started this civic initiative, which confirms that we are not alone in this difficult situation. In a few days, hundreds of signatures were collected in the interests of the federal preservation of fishing rights in Sárvíz Lake. Thank you for the many supporting signatures collected so far on paper and online!

We hereby also respectfully ask the Municipality of Gersekarát to use the financial resources intended for the operation of the fishing lake for its basic municipal tasks, or for the further renovation of the beach of Lake Sárvíz, or for developments considered important by the population living in the settlement!

We are also holding a forum on the matter on October 24 at 5 p.m. in Gersekarat, to which fishermen and local residents are invited. We hope that the representative body will also accept our invitation, so the attendees will have the opportunity to ask them as well.
