IN MEMORY OF Fürstinger Ottó

Last Saturday, we once again lost a person who served the fishing movement in the county of Vas with heart and soul for decades. It is with great sadness that we inform all those who loved and respected him that our friend and former fishing guide, Ottó Fürstinger, has passed away at the age of 82.

Ottó Fürstinger, or as many people knew him, Uncle Otto, was not just a county fishing guide, but a man who worked with passion and commitment for the iron waters. For more than 22 years, Ottó Fürstinger was the recognized fishing guide of the County of Vas. Before the regime change, in 1982, he started his career under the Vas County Administrative Committee of MOHOSZ and actively worked to strengthen and develop the fishing movement in Vas County.

In the 1990s, after the regime change, when the General Assembly of the Hungarian National Fishermen's Association decided that bottom-up construction would be appropriate in the fishing movement, Ottó Fürstinger took part in the organizational transformation as secretary general of the regional fishing organization without regretting work and effort. In 1993, the Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Associations was established, and he became its first executive president during the presidency of József Horváth. Until his retirement in 2003, he managed the organization's work with great responsibility and commitment as executive chairman. It is to his name that by the beginning of the 2000s, he succeeded in obtaining the fishing rights of almost all the fishing waters of Vas County in a unique way in the country, and as a result of his cost-saving management, he founded the organization's assets with significant savings. During his career as a fishing guide, Ottó Fürstinger was always a humane and helpful person. In his spare time, if he could, he went to the Gyöngyös stream near his place of residence to fish for trout and chub.

We will preserve the memory of our fellow fisherman Ottó Fürstinger, and the fishing community will always be grateful for his selfless work and service. Rest in peace Otto!

His funeral will take place on Friday, April 26, 2024, after the funeral mass at 3:30 p.m. in Gyöngyösfalu, Ludad cemetery.
