The six-day fishing camp in Vaskeresztes began on August 2, with dinner on the first night after the central briefing, followed by rods, lures, baits, and night-time fishing.

The camp was a great home for the Alpine Inn and Fishing Tourism Center, whose children were accommodated in the upstairs rooms and in the tents set up in the indoor event space. The organizers also provided the children with the necessary tents and sleeping bags, and of course they also received the bait, bait and corn needed for fishing.

The inn is only a few steps away from the fishing lake, so the kids could use all the time to fit their rods and try to catch fish, even for a longer, shorter period of time. Talking to helpers at the camp, it turned out that the children are taking advantage of this, as they sit by the lake early in the morning, sometimes before six o'clock, hoping for a bite.

" The camp has been held for many years, and Vaskeresztes has been an excellent venue for the fifth year in a row ," said Ákos Kovács, the head of the camp , adding: they always camp with a full house, the places are soon filled with 10-15 year olds. There are also -9 year olds among the children. Thanks to József Mesterházy, the campers could hear a lecture on fish protection, where the hunting and fish management specialist talked about, among other things, the gentle removal of hooks and the habitats and spawning grounds of fish.

The children - although there is no shortage of fun - always try to leave the fishing spots clean, taking care of the order around the lake. It was a pleasure to see that one day after the e-sports presentation - held by Máté Halmos, head of the eSport Szombathely Sports Association - when it was possible to choose who would stay in the room to play with computers and who would go fishing, more than three-quarters of the children he immediately chose fishing. This is important in today's fast-paced world, when everything is about how fast information flows so that children can learn to sit, to be in nature, to be patient, as fishing teaches this as well , added Ákos Kovács, youth leader.

Of course, the various competitions could not be missed in the camp either, so they held a throwing competition, there was also a team and individual fishing competition.

Balázs Németh , who arrived at the camp, is also a member of the Trabucco Feeder Team , a world champion silver medal competition angler who gave an exciting presentation on feeding, so the kids could get some useful things from a real champion.

During the week, they also went on an excursion to Lake Abért in Lukácsháza, where, of course, there was no fishing. They also caught large numbers of grass carp, carp, crucian carp and catfish. The camp closed with the announcement of the results, where the most medals, trophies and gifts were given to Linter Hunor , who proved to be the most successful in individual fishing and throwing competition, as well as in the complex. “ I’ve been fishing since I was a preschooler, mostly learning from my dad what I know. We usually fish at the Cséri lakes in Győr-moson-sopron county and at Répcelak. This is the second year that I have attended the camp, I really like the atmosphere, everyone is very nice and it is best to be just a few steps from the lake and in the evening you can go fishing. Hunor said, then added that he races a lot. - There is a competition almost every weekend, last time I was at the Répce Cup in Bük, and next time I will be competing in Újkér. I like to swim the best, and my biggest catch was an eleven-pound carp that I managed to catch at the Blessed Lady Lake in Csepreg. When we asked him what his greatest desire was, where he would like to go fishing, the answer came without thinking: “I would go catfish on the River Ebro.

Meanwhile, thanks to Tibor Monos and Tamás Christmas , the catfish fillet rolled into corn flour was made here, though not from the river Ebro. We said goodbye and wished him a good appetite.
