Fish guards meeting in Szarvas
The team of the Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Associations also participated in the 8th National Fish Guard Professional Meeting and Competition, held in Szarvas, next to the Kákafoki backwater, between September 15 and 17, 2025. The event was hosted by the Liget Wellness and Conference Hotel again this year, which provided an excellent venue for professional presentations and competition tasks.
On the first day, participants listened to professional presentations that focused on the most important areas of fish guard work. The role of communication and conflict management, current issues of water quality and water retention, and the challenges posed by alien fish species were discussed. There was also great interest in the practical demonstration of the HORINFO monitoring application.
After the presentations, the teams tuned in to the evening's informal conversations at a fun-filled live foosball tournament, which provided a great opportunity to strengthen relationships and build community.
On the second and third days, professional quizzes and competitions took place, where the teams measured their knowledge and preparedness in fitness, skill, and theoretical tasks.
Unfortunately, the weaker performance on the first day meant a disadvantage in the overall standings, but after the improved performance on the second day, we finished the competition in 23rd place in the national field of 30 teams.

The meeting was once again not only about the competition, but also provided an excellent opportunity for professional development, exchange of experiences, and strengthening the relationships of the national fish guard community.
