On Saturday, 22,500 kg of carp arrived in our state fishing waters with government support

A national, extraordinary fish stocking started today on state-owned fishing waters to help Hungarian fish producers. Based on the decision of the Hungarian Government, fish farming users of state-owned fishing waters will receive planting support of an unprecedented amount.

The fish planting coordinated by the Hungarian National Fishermen's Association (MOHOSZ) is the biggest logistical task in the history of Hungarian fish production and fish farming. The decision will not only help keep the jobs of the 1,500 workers directly affected, but once the coronavirus pandemic is over, it will quickly and effectively serve the resumption of recreational sport fishing, the world’s first competitive fishing sport, and fishing tourism and boost fish consumption. The measure also serves to protect more than 2,500 jobs in organizations and companies involved in fishing. At the initiative of the Hungarian Interprofessional Organization for Aquaculture and Fisheries (MA-HAL), the Ministry of Agriculture carries out intervention buying due to foreign market and domestic sales difficulties caused by the new type of coronavirus, which affects third summer carp stocks accumulated by fish producers. The subsidy amount for the acquisition is HUF 800,000,000 gross, which was determined by the Ministry of Agriculture with the consent of the Ministry of Finance.

The Ministry of Agriculture has entrusted the organization, implementation and control of the intervention to the MOHOSZ National Fishing Organization Service Center, which performs the task free of charge within the framework of its public tasks. The release of the accumulated fish stocks is not tolerated, so the organizations concerned completed the preparatory work with record speed, and NÉBIH carried out an out-of-line fish health risk assessment and screening of any imported fish. MOHOSZ and MA-HAL defined the distribution principles with the approval of the Ministry of Agriculture. Beneficiaries are those member associations and member associations (as well as the fish farm user of Lake Tisza with special status), where state or majority state-owned water areas with a water area of more than 5 hectares are used for fishing as a usufructuary or sub-lessee . The water areas, which serve as a competition track for priority fishing, hosting several competitions a year, received central overfishing support on the basis of a trade union proposal. MOHOSZ takes special care of the extraordinary settlement contribution of the water areas utilized by Balatoni Halgazdálkodási Nonprofit Zrt. The additional support of the exemplary, closed production-outsourcing Balaton organization will be solved by the fishermen's professional association with the help of the fishing support applications in the autumn of 2020 and 2021, taking into account the interests of the fishermen of Lake Balaton. In most state waters, the rate of deployment even exceeds the total annual deployment of the previous period, and the value of an extraordinary fish deployment from state resources increases state fish stocks. The current installation is the biggest logistical task in the history of Hungarian fish production and farming. 29 fish farmers and about 80 transport vehicles are involved in the work. A total of around 1,200 tonnes of carp will be deployed in the coming weeks on more than 350 fishing waters and at more than 400 deployment points. Coordinated deployments began in the country today, with the program expected to end in mid-May.

Most of the carp managed by our association entered the Rába River - from Alsószölnök to Nick - a total of 12,731 kg. This carp planting volume that reached Rába is more than three times the last year's planting by our Association - which was 4100 kg. The Rába River receives essentially 16 kg of carp per hectare, which has never been landed in such quantities. According to the plans, Rába will get the fish from the following places: 1000 kg in Alsószölnök, 1600 kg in Szentgotthárd, 2000 kg in Körmend, 1000 kg in Csákánydoroszló, 6131 kg on the Ikervár sections, 1000 kg on the Nicki section. In addition to the Rába River, it enters the following waters as part of the Vera program without the need for completeness: 2,551 kg to the Abért Lakes, 2032 kg to the Kerka stream and its backwater, 1188 kg to the Marcal River, 500 kg to the Pinka stream, 500 kg to the Kis Rába, 500 kg to Lake Kéthatár, 500 kg to Lake Rábasömjéni, 500 kg to Csörnöc-Herpenyő.

Following fish stocks, a general ban on fishing will not be imposed in any of the waters so that everyone can indulge their passion as soon as possible during this difficult period. Individual fishing is still possible during the curfew, subject to certain waterfront rules. In the federal water areas - with the exception of those living in a common household - min. Fishing at a distance of 5 meters is allowed. In Hungary, even during periods of emergency, a valid fishing permit is a basic condition for starting fishing.

We would like to draw the attention of our fellow fishermen to the fact that the national specific prohibition period for carp in iron waters will begin on May 4, 2020, so by May 29, 2020, carp must be released gently in these waters.
