After the festive carp, small pike arrived
Propagated by Szombathely-based Halászmester Kft., approx. 3 centimeter pikes were planted on Tuesday, April 11. The voracious little crocodiles were carefully relocated by our fish wardens, where possible, using "local" help, and they were transported in double plastic water bags filled with oxygen. The specialist administrator of the Vas County Fisheries Authority also monitored the measurement and loading of the quantity intended for planting, as well as some of the plantings.
Based on the fish management plan approved by the authorities, in addition to our small watercourses, several of them entered our standing water in the following quantities:

Stocking rivers and lakes with pre-raised pike is a time-consuming task, because of the cannibalism that often occurs - even when there is a sufficient amount of food - the small predators have to be scattered, preferably in as large an area as possible.
Various experiences and literature data are available on the preservation of pre-raised pike, but it is a fact that, apart from the weather, the amount of food available mainly determines the effectiveness. The fast-developing adult pike is absolutely predatory, often not sparing its congeners, in a food-rich environment - especially the fry - they can grow to be hook-ready in a short time.
Despite the increased fish prices and the dominance of carp fishing, our Association is committed to the implementation of predatory fish stocking as diverse as possible, so in addition to the 1 ton of one-year-old pike planted in January, we also want to pay attention to the replacement of predatory stocks in small watercourses.
