Abért Lakes showed unusual form at the weekend competition

The third round of the Vasi Vizek Legjobb Sportfisher 2025 competition series was held on June 22nd on Abért I. and II. lakes. 64 anglers took part in the Sunday competition: 25 competitors, 29 hobby adults, and 10 in the youth category.

At the morning opening, Norbert Puskás, representing the Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Associations, greeted the participants, then the draw was made with the help of competition organizers Imre Gerencsér, József Mesterházy and Zsolt Preiner . During the preparation time, the bait and feed limit check was also carried out for each participant.

The competitors and hobby fishermen took their places on Lake Abért II, while the youth competitors took their places on Lake Abért I. The competition took place in sectors – the adults fished in threes, the youth in one common sector.

The well-known and often generous Abért lakes were not in top form this time: in some fishing spots, catching even a few kilograms was a challenge even for experienced competitors. However, by the end of the day, a relatively good overall result was achieved: 646,140 grams of fish were weighed, which means an average of 10,096 grams per competitor. This amount is not bad, but still falls short of the usual 25–30 kilogram average for the lake.

The majority of the catches were again carp, bream and silver crucian carp, but due to the more modest results, this time, unfortunately, dwarf catfish also appeared in significant quantities on the tables.

The weather showed its true summer face: bright sunshine, warmth and a light wind accompanied the day. Several competitors even got sunburned, so the organizers once again draw the attention of all anglers to the importance of sun protection, especially during longer summer competitions.
