Method Cup 2026 - Season Opening Fishing Competition

A season-opening Method Cup will be held on Lake Abért on Sunday, April 26, 2026. The aim of the competition is to allow anglers who enjoy the method technique to compare their skills in an organized setting.

Competition rules

Only the method method can be used in the competition.
One hook can be used with one rod.
The maximum length of the leader is 25 cm, it can only be made of monofilament line, with a barbless hook.
The use of braided casting lines is permitted, up to a maximum length of 7 meters. Full length braided lines can also be used on a feeder rod.
Feeding is only possible with a feeding basket.
No other fishing gear may be in the water during feeding.
The use of dry seeds is prohibited.
The amount of bait is limited according to the national freestyle method regulations.
Every fish caught counts towards the assessment, and humane treatment is mandatory.
A maximum of 20 kg of fish can be stored in a fish tank (a maximum of 20 kg will be charged for any excess).
Fish over 7 kg must be weighed immediately.
A fish caught before the end of the competition is considered a valid catch.

Required equipment:

2 fish tanks of at least 3 meters
carp mattress
2 carp bags

Competition organization

The competition will be held in 3 or 4 sectors, depending on the number of entrants.

Collection order

Access to the area behind the racetrack is only possible from the Lukácsháza side, with permission.
It is forbidden to drive onto embankments and dams.
It is not possible to drive into the grassy area on the side of the Gyöngyös stream, so it is recommended to use a handcart to transport equipment.
When registering, it is mandatory to provide the vehicle registration number and an email address for the entry permit.

Remuneration

In a composite evaluation, 1st–3rd place will be awarded.
The 1st–3rd place winners in each sector will also receive recognition.
The amount of the prize depends on the number of entrants.
