Young anglers tested their skills in Répcelak
This year, the Répcelak mining lake hosted the Vas County Youth Fishing Competition, where unfortunately only six enthusiastic young people took the initiative to test their fishing knowledge and skills in the multi-round competition. The preparation of the venue and the smooth running of the program were taken care of by professional fish warden Tamás Karácsonyi, Attila Kádi, president of the Répcelak City Mining Fishing Association, and Balázs Szekeres.
The day started at 7 am with the registration of the young people, then the organizers greeted the competitors and explained the daily program. The competition, which consisted of four events, began with a written test. The test caused a headache for the young people every year, as well as this time, because after the corrections it turned out that they had lost quite a lot of points in the first event.
This was followed by DIY, where they had to assemble a rig with a tip rod. DIY went better for the young people, here they could earn points and move up in the provisional ranking. The task was made seriously difficult by the hurricane-force wind that prevailed during the day, but the young people skillfully overcame the obstacles, and here too several were able to earn valuable points.
The fishing came next, which all participants were looking forward to. The wind did not let up here either, but the young people tried their hand at spinning rods and match rods. During the 3-hour competition, several carp, bream, and even a nice chub were hooked!
Before the last event, the participants were able to refuel with delicious pizza, and then the throw to the finish line followed. The wind tested concentration and technique here as well – the throws had to be made from 10 and 15 meters, skillfully calculating the gusts of wind.
The day ended with the announcement of the results, where the competitors eagerly awaited the announcement of the rankings, at which valuable gifts were presented in addition to the cups.
