XVIII. Répce Cup - Bük victory in Répcelak
The 18th Répce Cup was held on Sunday, August 17th, organized by the Répcelaki Fishing Association, on the Répcelaki Lake. Below is a report on the competition by Attila Kádi - the president of the organizer, Répcelaki HE.
The hot summer weather of the previous day was replaced by a significant cooling and stormy wind at the start of the morning. After the opening ceremony and the draw, everyone took their seats, and then the preparations began.
After the anglers unloaded, a delicious breakfast was already served, because the helpers of the Bük Fishing Association started preparing it upon arrival: they prepared a delicious sausage lecsó for the competitors.
At exactly eight o'clock, a horn signaled the start of the four-hour competition. After the initial, quick catches, the search fishing increasingly came to the fore. At several points in the lake, larger fish, carp, grass carp and bream were caught, but where smaller fish were caught, valuable points could also be collected.
The competition ended at noon, followed by the long-awaited weighing and announcement of results.
- Team competition result:
1st place: Bük Fishing Association – 9 points
2nd place: Répcelak Fishing Association – 10 points
3rd place: Csepreg Fishing Association – 11 points
The three teams caught a total of 92,940 grams of fish, which averaged 6,196 grams per person.
- Individual category:
- 1st place: Imre Tóth (Csepregi HE) – 19,690 g
- 2nd place: Zoltán Ágoston (Répcelaki HE) – 15,900 g
- 3rd place: Hunor Linter (Répcelaki HE) – 8,695 g
- The prize for the biggest fish went to Zoltán Ágoston with a 4.565 gram carp.
After the announcement of the results, a joint lunch awaited the participants, Zoltán Kiss and his wife Anita cooked cellar stew, while the Csepreg anglers prepared with tripe knuckle. Despite the windy weather, the competition was held in a good mood, and the participants agreed that the Répce Cup will continue many more times.
Gábor Horváth has already invited the teams to the 19th Répce Cup, which will be held in Bük in 2026, and everyone has happily expressed their intention to participate.
