We have also received exemption from the specific prohibition period for catfish for two of our lakes in Zala!

Based on the decision of the Zala County Government Office ZAH/020/837-5/2025, at the request of the Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Associations, the Kerkafalva Kéhhatár Lake (Kerkafalva 018/10 hrsz., Kerkakutas 0110/8 hrsz.) and Kerkaszentkirályi Kerka Lake (Kerkaszentkirály 061, 062, 063, 064, 065/1 hrsz.) water areas were exempted from the specific prohibition period for catfish in 2025.

This means that, based on the decision of our Association - according to the previously valid legal provision - catfish longer than 100 cm can be caught and kept on the two Zala lakes even during the prohibition period (May 5 - June 13, 2025).
The aim of the decision is to benefit our fellow anglers who are committed to catfishing, and to help protect the native fish population in the lakes by catching large catfish.

The ban on fishing in the waters of Vas County by the Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Associations was also lifted, as we reported here .
