We also organized two Fishing School programs
In the second half of June, the Vaskerestes center of the Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Associations hosted two successful Fishing School programs. The aim of the events, which were supported by the Hungarian National Fishing Association (MOHOSZ), was once again to introduce young people to the basics of fishing, Hungarian fish species, and the approach to nature and water conservation in a playful and experiential way.
The first program was attended by students from the Felsőcsatár Language Teaching Nationalities Primary School , who came on the trip as a reward for their excellent academic results. The participants were greeted by Norbert Puskás, the executive president of the Association , and then József Mesterházy, the head of the fish management and fish protection group, gave a presentation about the wildlife of the Vásárhely waters and the domestic fish species. After that , Balázs Szekeres and István Fördős, fisheries guards, introduced the students to the basic rules of fishing, the role of fish guarding, and the basics of fishing with a tip rod.

The theoretical knowledge was followed by playful tasks: the children could prove their knowledge in a fishing knowledge test, a fish puzzle and a plush fish fishing competition. The highlight of the day was the fishing demonstration and team competition organized on the Alpine Fishing Lake, where the young people could try out real fishing with great enthusiasm. At the end of the close competition, the "Ponty" team took the overall victory.

On June 24, a group of nine students with autism from the Váci Mihály Primary School in Szombathely visited our association. During the program, József Mesterházy introduced the work of the Association and the most important fishing waters of Vas County, then fisheries guards Balázs Szekeres, Tamás Karácsonyi and István Fördős introduced the participants to the domestic fish species, the basics of fishing and the importance of coastal nature conservation in an interactive session.

The learning was followed by practical programs on this day as well. The young people could measure their skills in a plush fish fishing competition, and then they could try fishing with a real fishing rod on the shore of the Alpine Lake. A special experience of the day was that the fish transport vehicle arrived during the fishing, so the participants could observe the entire process of a carp stocking up close. The children were not only observers, but also active helpers of the stocking, as they themselves participated in putting the fish into the water with the help of butchers. On the day of the program, a total of 200 kilograms of carp were placed in the Alpine Lake, and another 580 kilograms were planted in several sections of the Pinka Stream and the Pinka backwater.

Both events were excellent examples of how fishing is not just a leisure activity, but also an important means of transmitting a love of nature, responsible thinking and community experiences. The participants were enriched with many new knowledge, experiences of success and unforgettable memories by the water.
We would like to thank all the participating children, teachers and our staff who helped organize the programs for their active participation and dedicated work. We hope that the experiences gained will be the first step towards fishing and a love of nature for many young people.
Thank you for your support to MOHOSZ!
