Vasvári Fishing Lake No. II is expanding
The expansion works of Vasvár Fishing Pond No. II are progressing at a good pace, which our Association is implementing in cooperation with the Vasvár City Government.
During the development, we will tidy up the lake's shoreline and increase the water surface by nearly 1,000 m². Approximately 1,800 m³ of soil will be excavated and utilized locally: a 247-meter-long circular embankment will be built to protect the lake. The tidier shoreline will also create opportunities for the development of new, more cultured fishing spots.
The total cost of construction, planning and the necessary permits is nearly 10 million HUF gross, for which the Municipality of Vasvár is providing a subsidy of 5 million HUF. We thank the Municipality for its cooperation and support!
The works are taking place based on the legally binding water rights establishment permit and approved plans, and are expected to be completed by the end of August 2026.
But the development doesn't end there!
Another important step may take place in the coming weeks. The public procurement procedure for the development planned from TOP Plusz funds, worth approximately 31.5 million forints, is expected to be published. Following a successful public procurement, the two lakes and their surroundings may continue to develop by the end of 2027.
The plans include the installation of benches, a covered rest area, a fireplace, bicycle storage and playground equipment, the improvement of road and beach sections, the creation of new fishing spots, and significant landscaping.
The combined value of the two developments exceeds 40 million forints. These are welfare investments that not only serve anglers, but also enrich the city of Vasvár and its entire community.
The Vasvári Petőfi Fishing Association is celebrating its 80th anniversary this fall. The association and our Federation work with shared responsibility to ensure that the lakeshore remains a well-maintained, sustainable and valuable community space for everyone in the long term.
The implementation of the developments can be a worthy celebration for the 80-year-old Vasvári Petőfi Fishing Association and the local fishing community that has been working for the lakes for the past eight decades.
