The Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Associations closed a successful, yet challenging, year in 2025. Despite economic and environmental difficulties, we managed to increase our revenues, the number of fishing community members continued to grow, while the prices of fishing tickets remained unchanged in 2025.
Renewing previous traditions, we will first present the 2025 annual assessment in the form of a television interview. In the Szombathelyi Televízió Szolgáltatók – economic magazine, presenter Ildikó Kocsis Tóth talked with executive chairman Norbert Puskás about the achievements, difficulties, developments of fishing life in Vas in 2025, as well as the most important goals and current events of the near future.
During the conversation, it was stated that the year 2025 is expected to end with an increase in revenue of about 7 percent. This can be considered a significant result, especially in light of the fact that Lake Sárvíz in Gersekaráti was no longer under the management of the association, while the prices of fishing tickets remained unchanged throughout the year.
The number of anglers belonging to member associations was 11,936, which was 232 more than the previous year. An outstanding result is that 2,151 child anglers are listed in our electronic fishing register, and their number has continued to increase – this is clear evidence that fishing has a secure future in Vas County.
In 2025, the association, together with MOHOSZ, as a cooperating partner, began the process of reconnecting the Döröskei Reservoir to the fishing map. The new location quickly became a successful community and competition venue, hosting several fishing competitions. The Association fully implemented its pre-planned programs and events in 2025, typically with full attendance.
We also had a successful year in the field of fish farming. In 2025, 62,260 kg of carp, 18,988 kg of bream, and 900 kg of roach were released into the Vásárlón waters. Together with the year-end predator stocking, the total amount of perch, pike, and trout reached 3,110 kilograms, while 68,000 pieces of pre-farmed native fish – including bream, chub, mullet, and bream – enriched the wild waters, contributing to the renewal of the natural population.
Although it was not an ordinary year, the effects of inflation eased during the year, but at the same time, the fluctuating performance of the economy was felt throughout the year. All this also affected fishing, as one of the most popular leisure activities in Vas County. However, the results achieved continue to show that fishing remains a popular, accessible and community-building activity for wide segments of society.
The Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Associations wishes all fellow anglers a new year full of health and fishing experiences!
Thank you for your trust and cooperation in 2025!
See you at the beach next year!
