The fishermen of our association received recognition on this year's Fish Day
At the suggestion of the Hungarian Fisheries Society, the Department of Fish Management of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Hungarian National Fishing Association, the Hungarian Aquaculture and Fisheries Interprofessional Organization, and the Hungarian Association of Aquarists previously made a joint decision that starting from 2017, March 20 of every year would be Fish Day , which, based on the decision of the MOHOSZ, is a significant day from 2022.
The primary goal of this significant day is to further popularize fish and their protection, because in our opinion, even today, they do not always receive the attention from society that they deserve due to their importance. On this day, or in the calendar environment of this day, all organizations related to fish, or even tangentially dealing with them, can draw attention to fish, their appreciation and general and current topics and tasks related to fish and habitats in the way that best suits their own profile. importance.
The central event of Fish Day 2023 took place in the Öbölház Event Center in Budapest on March 20, 2023, starting at 11:00 a.m. in the presence of media representatives and industry leaders. After the official welcome of the representatives of the host MOHOSZ, the participating fishing guides and fish keepers were able to hear interesting and high-quality professional presentations by speakers from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Hungarian University of Life Sciences, the Hungarian Mortuary Society, the Hungarian Association of Aquarists, and the director general of MOHOSZ.
After the presentations, the regional and national fish keeper appointments were presented, as well as the title of the leading fish keeper and the Fisherman of the Year award. MOHOSZ's intention, which has been realized for many years, is to recognize the dedicated work of the professional fish wardens who oversee the fish stock of natural waters as our common treasure, in addition to providing quality clothing, technical equipment suitable for waterfront maintenance and fish guarding, and service vehicles, with personal allowances. Participating in the 2023 celebration of the sector was also a pleasant duty on the part of the Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Associations, as two of our colleagues received recognition from the Hungarian National Fishing Association at Monday's event held in the wonderful surroundings of the Danube.
Károly Sipos, a senior professional fisherman of our association, was awarded the "Leading Fisherman of the Year" award in addition to the "Fisherman of the Year" award, which can be awarded annually to one full-time professional fisherman in our country.
Károly Sipos was born in Körmend in 1963 as a child on the Rába coast. His childhood was spent fishing and playing football, and after a career as a border guard, he began his professional activities as a fish guard at the Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Associations in 1998, and has been working continuously since then, without interruption. His work is characterized by precision, accuracy, decisiveness and correctness. Working in the most visited and busiest water areas of the county, he has been performing his duties conscientiously and with minimal conflict for 25 years this year. In addition to fish conservation, our association can count on you to work in any field during the day-to-day work, which is demanding, conscientious and professional. In the course of his work, in addition to the water areas of the Vas County, he also performs fish watch service in the Zala County on the water areas managed by our Association.
In addition to our colleague Károly Sipos, our professional fisher Tamás Karácsonyi received the designation of "Territorially Competent Fisherman".
Tamás Karácsonyi has been working as a social fish watcher since 2004, later as the president of the Celldömölk Locomotive Fishing Association, and since June 2020 as a professional fish watcher in the waters of our Association. Due to his excellent organizational skills, high technical expertise and expertise in fish gastronomy, he quickly gained recognition among his colleagues and the county's fishermen. His work is precise, efficient, independent and thoughtful. He is a fundamental player in all the events held by our Association, in addition, he is the leader of the Fishing Section and the organizer of numerous youth programs and fishing competitions for children in and around Celldömölk, a member of the Vas County National Fishing Tournament team, and he used to be a competitive fisherman. In the course of his work, in addition to the water areas of the Vas County, he also performs fish watch service in the Győr-Moson-Sopron County on the water areas managed by our Association, primarily on the Rába River.
We heartily congratulate both of our colleagues on the appointment and award, and - referring to the statements of the awardees - we express our thanks to all our colleagues who are professional fish guards, active social fish guards, and our supporters who contribute in other areas of fish protection, whose joint work was also recognized by the national association.
The professional recognition of our colleagues is also a "promotion" with extended control and procedural powers, as well as a reward, which MOHOSZ introduced in order to promote a long-term and predictable career as a fisherman and to reward high-level professional work.
