The final of the 20th Vasi Vizesken Fishing Competition ended with jubilee experiences

On June 11th, we organized the final of the Vasi Vizeken Primary School Fishing Competition for the twentieth time at the Vaskerestes Fishing Tourism Center. The event was also very popular this year: after the two correspondence rounds, 13 enthusiastic teams made it to the on-site final to show their knowledge both in theory and on the shore.

The day started in a cheerful atmosphere, with registration and some sweets, then the teams took their places next to the creative team flags they had made. The little masterpieces themselves indicated that the children had prepared seriously for the competition, and with their helpers, they had put their hearts and souls into the competition.

After the greetings, the theoretical round began, in which the students could give an account of their fishing and fish knowledge. The quick and accurate solutions also indicated that the teams arrived prepared. Later, after a draw, they occupied their fishing spots, and the exciting 2-hour fish-catching competition began with the sound of the bagpipes. According to the competition rules, each team received uniform equipment, but they could also use their own rod of the same size.

The children threw themselves into fishing with joy and excitement – and indeed, most teams did not leave without a catch! Bream, crucian carp, and carp were also caught on the hook, but the sensation of the day was undoubtedly delivered by the Carp Collectors team, who managed to catch a large grass carp – this catch practically earned them first place in the fishing competition round.

place: Arany János Rábapatyi Elementary School – Bait on the Hook – 1350 g

The theoretical worksheets were being diligently corrected, and the most points were scored by the Rábamenti Harcsáks team, with an almost flawless performance. The afternoon results announcement was followed by solemn moments. On the occasion of the anniversary, each little angler received a special chestnut heart cookie - the organizers thanked them for the fact that the young people are also part of the future of the Vási fishing community. The Harcsák won again: just like last year, this year too, the team from Rumi Rajki István Elementary School was able to stand on the top step of the podium!

The overall results of the three-round competition are:

1st place: Rumi Rajki István Elementary School – Harcsák – 8 points (Team Captain: Gábor Somogyi Team: Ármin Máté Király, Levente Keresztes, Kornél Havasi, Alex András Takács)

2nd place: Géza Gárdonyi Elementary School in Sárvári – Sárvári Sügerek – 13.5 points (Team Captain: János Pipics Team: Dávid Király, Levente Sinka, Bence Melegh, Marcell Toldi)

3rd place: Arany János Rábapatyi Elementary School – Baits on the Hook – 14 points (Team Captain: Ferenc Pukler Team: Luca Bertha, Mátyás Eredics, Máté Mészáros, Barnabás Pethő)

The first three places took home cups and fishing rods, but all participants received a commemorative card and a gift package, along with their accompanying teachers.

At the end of the day, Norbert Puskás, the executive president of the Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Associations, thanked the children for their enthusiastic participation, the support of the teachers and parents, and the dedicated work of the organizers who prepared and organized the competition. He wished all participants a pleasant summer and many fishing experiences. We will continue next year!
