The carp are coming, but not yet...!

The consequences of the extreme heat and lack of precipitation that have hit the country, and indeed a significant part of Europe, are now being felt by everyone. We know that many people are looking forward to the next carp stocking, but in order to preserve water quality and protect fish stocks, we ask for your patience and understanding at this time.

Although carp can be safely transported in summer under appropriate professional conditions – adequate water volume, water temperature and regulated oxygen supply – in the current extreme weather situation, stocking would pose a serious risk. The water level of the receiving waters has dropped significantly in many places, their temperatures are permanently high, and their oxygen balance is more vulnerable, so a larger fish stocking could represent an unnecessary burden on the fish population already living there.

With news of drying up streams, disappearing lakes, water restrictions and, in some places, fish kills, we are receiving daily reports. In such circumstances, responsible fish management requires that we only stock fish when the condition of the water bodies makes it safe to do so.

We would like to draw the attention of our anglers to the fact that if you experience that fish are massed on the water surface, gasping for air ("checking"), behaving abnormally, or notice fish loss in the water areas managed by the Association, please do not share what happened on social media, but immediately notify the Association at one of the office or fish guard phone numbers available at the following link: https://vasivizeken.hu/hu/kapcsolat.

In many cases, rapid reporting allows our staff to take the necessary measures in a timely manner, thereby contributing to the protection of our fish stocks.

Our association's stocking plan still includes the waters that were left out of the last carp stocking. Weather permitting, reduced stocking may begin in August. However, if the extreme heat persists, stocking will be resumed in the fall, when conditions are more favorable.

We believe that the best decision now is to wait a few weeks to ensure that both the newly introduced fish and the natural fish population living in our waters are as safe as possible.
