Summary of the 4th Rakós Botos Carp Fishing Championship semi-final in Abért-tavi
The 2nd semi-final of the 4th Rakós Rod Carp Fishing National Championship took place in our county between May 8-11, 2025. 16 determined anglers entered the competition, who were able to fish for a place in the semi-finals.
- Day 1: A cold front and rainy weather greeted the participants at the start of the race
The official opening of the competition was held by Csaba Polyák, deputy head of the MOHOSZ competition sports office . Despite the bitter, windy weather in the morning, the catches started in the first minutes. Not only the cold, but also the strong wind and rain made things difficult for the anglers, but the competitors tried to prevail with different tactics. In the first round, the two extreme places brought the mandatory catches, and several nice carp were hooked.
By the end of the first day, the competitors had caught a total of nearly 500 kg of fish, and although the cold front did not make their job easier, the results gave reason for optimism.
Catch data from the first round:
- Average weight per sector: 30,912.5 g
- Total weight per sector: 247,300 g
- Total weight of the entire round: 474,850 g
- Day 2: Sector B dominated and cupids are also showing up!
On the second day, bright sunshine greeted the anglers, which brought a spectacular change in the catches. While sector A dominated the previous day, today sector B brought the nice catches. The long-awaited grass carp also appeared, and nice chunky carp also paid their respects in the sinkers. The anglers now competed in shorts and T-shirts, and the weather was favorable for the catches.
Although there was an unfortunate incident where a competitor became ill and an ambulance had to be called, fortunately the competitor quickly recovered and was soon able to return home from the hospital.
After the second day, the field was led by Gergely Lisztes, together with Zsolt Bognár, with 4 points, closely followed by Péter Legáth with 5 points.
- Day 3: Final day, with a close final result
On the third day, the competitors were again tested by the cool, windy weather, and at the same time the number of carp caught decreased significantly. However, the crucian carp showed themselves more and more, and those who recognized this in time were able to gain a competitive advantage. The average weight of the crucian carp was about 70 dkg, so they helped tactical anglers with valuable grams. Heavier floats and longer leader lines played a key role, as the competitors had to fish extremely precisely in the strong wind.
At the end of the competition, Ádám Takács and Péter Legáth both finished with 9 points, but with different catch weights. Ádám Takács eventually became the champion with a catch of 104,700 grams, while Péter Legáth took second place with 93,725 grams. The bronze medalist was Gergely Lisztes with 10 points.
The best anglers have reached the semi-finals and can continue the fight for the final victory.
