Rowing together – common goals
The staff of the administrative offices of the Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Associations and the Győr-Moson-Sopron County Association of Sport Fishing Associations met for the second time in the framework of a joint professional trip. The first meeting took place last year in Vaskeresztes, where, in addition to games, fun and informal conversations, the coordination of the common tasks and administrative systems of the two associations also played a role. Building on the positive experiences, this year the colleagues from Győr invited the Vasians to visit, and the event was hosted in Ásványráró in mid-August.
At the beginning of the program , Ivancsóné dr. Zsuzsanna Horváth, the executive president of the Győr-Moson-Sopron County Association, gave an informational presentation about the Ásványráró fishing pond and its future development ideas. She then introduced the Szigetköz branch system, which is under the fish management management of their Association and is one of the most special fishing waters in Hungary.
The hosts from Győr prepared a nice surprise: during a joint dragon boat trip, the colleagues rowed together for nearly two hours in the beautiful Szigetköz branch system. The spectacular natural environment and the water experience gave unforgettable moments to all participants.
As part of the professional program, they also visited a fish ladder, and then shared lunch and informal conversation to evaluate the day's experiences. The two associations confirmed that they will strive for close cooperation in the future, especially in connection with the upcoming Hungarian Fisheries Operational Program Plus applications.
If these projects are implemented, the Rába River and the Kis-Rába River could be enriched with new habitats, and a fish ladder on the Hanság main channel would help fish migrate, thus strengthening fishing opportunities and protecting fish stocks in both counties.
The meeting once again proved that the fishing associations of neighboring counties not only work together in the management of jointly utilized waters, but also build personal, friendly relationships, which facilitates cooperation in everyday work.
