Report on the children's day fishing competition in Rábapatyi HE.

2025.05.29. Share

On May 25th, the Rábapaty and Vidéke HE organized the now traditional Children's Day fishing competition. This year's competition can be called a bit of a departure from the norm, because some of the students from Tamás Farkas' school from Szombathely also joined in. Below you can read Ferenc Pukler's report on the competition.

Report on the children's day fishing competition in Rábapatyi HE.

After registration, 19 children started the competition in 3 age groups (preschool, lower school, upper school). In the slightly cooler weather, the bites started quite slowly, but later – perhaps due to the warming up – the children's noise became louder and more fish landed in the bags. The preschoolers were only allowed a 1-hour competition period, but some of them did not wait even after that and, declaring themselves winners by themselves, ended the competition. Therefore, the announcement of results for them also started earlier. In this age group, girls mainly dominated the field.

The other two age groups were still collecting fish at that time. This year there was not a particularly large catch, but the total catch was over 33 kg. After the horn signaled the end of the competition, an excited group set off after the weigh-ins. The catch was 90% crucian carp, with a few breams, 1 perch and of course the dwarf catfish.

After the measurement was completed, the kindergarten age group was as follows:

  1. Dugovics Mia (680 g)
  2. Varga Natali (160 g)
  3. Dora the Butcher (140 g)

The boys (Gellert Szabó, Levente Bokor and Ármin Nagy) each received a gift package, while the girls received prizes offered by MOHOSZ.

The biggest success was the bubble blower included in the packages.

  • Lower age group:
  1. Bertha Luca (6680 g)
  2. Dorian Radanovics (3360 g)
  3. Bence Szolga (3060 g)

  • Senior age group:
  1. Barnabas Molnar (5200 g)
  2. Servant Emma (3480 g)
  3. Oliver Németh (1640 g)

The first three winners in both age groups were enriched with valuable prizes provided by MOHOSZ, and received gold, silver and bronze medals corresponding to their positions.

Each participant received a gift package, and special prizes were awarded for the smallest and largest fish. In addition, the two zero-point fishing seedlings also received a "lemon prize".

After the award ceremony, the goulash that had been prepared in the meantime was eaten.

At the end of the day, a group of children, flushed with excitement and sunshine, headed home.

Thank you to all the helpers and parents for making our event possible and making this unforgettable day possible.
