It was an eventful day of career orientation in Vaskeresztes.
The 3rd grade students of the Gothard Jenő Primary School in Szombathely were enriched with special experiences on their career orientation day this year, which was held in Vaskeresztes, at the headquarters of the Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Associations - with the partial support of the Hungarian National Fishing Association - MOHOSZ HUNOP Tanoda program.

In the first part of the program , Executive President Norbert Puskás welcomed the 29-person student group and presented the association's work, goals and role in organizing the county's fishing life in an exciting, interactive presentation. Then came the fisheries guards Balázs Szekeres and István Fördős , who explained the behind-the-scenes secrets of the fish guard profession to the curious students - they talked about the importance of fish guarding and the process of inspections. After the presentations, the students were divided into three teams and completed a fishing test, then measured their knowledge and skills using a giant fishing puzzle.
The theoretical presentation was followed by a practical session, where the children could try out fishing with a tip rod. They learned the basics of mixing bait, assembling the rig, and then they could show what they knew live on the rapid peca. The results were not lacking: several of them managed to catch rainbow trout, silver crucian carp, bream and carp.
After a quick lunch break, the young people visited the Pinka Fish Farm in Vaskeresztes, where they were guided around by farm manager Csaba Kállai . The children were able to get up close and personal with trout farming, the fish stocks of different ages and the feeding process. The day ended with a short, nature-based walk along the Vaskeresztes section of the Pinka Stream, where they also talked about the wildlife on the shores and the significance of the stream.
The program concluded with the announcement of the results of the impromptu fishing competition, where each team's performance was evaluated. The children's teams returned home with certificates, fishing brochures, and sweets - setting the stage for a fun and cheerful spring break.
