Children's Day fishing competition at the Döröskei Reservoir
The shore of the Döröskei Reservoir was filled with cheerful children's noise, excited preparations and a real Children's Day atmosphere this morning, where we organized the Children's Day fishing competition jointly organized by the Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Associations and the Sárvíz Lake Fishing Association.
The young competitors were welcomed in the morning by Dániel Szabó and Balázs Szekeres, fishing guards, and Norbert Puskás, the executive president of the Association . After registration, the program started with a technical meeting and opening, where after the most important rules, information and safety issues were explained, the children could take their fishing spots. Special thanks go to our fishing partner Attila Szakács , who offered 1 kg of bait for each participating child. The bait was distributed to the young anglers during the draw of the competition, so everyone could start fishing prepared.
After the morning draw, a total of 24 children took the fishing rod in their hands:
- 2 kindergarteners
- 14 lower secondary school students
- 8 upper-classmen
The competition started with a bang, and during the two-hour, friendly competition, the fish came in beautifully. It was a special pleasure for us that every child who started caught a fish, so no one left the water's edge without having experienced fishing. The young anglers caught bream, red-winged bream, crucian carp, pygmy catfish, bream and carp.
The seniors had outstanding catches. László Czékus finished the competition with a fish of over 12 kg, while Dávid Bálint finished with a fish of over 9 kg. The competition was extremely close for the juniors, where catches between 3 and 4 kg decided the placings. Given the close results, even the fourth-place finisher received a special prize. For the juniors, the main goal was to get to know competition fishing and confidently master the basics.

The biggest fish of the competition was caught by Milán Mihályfi, who received a special prize for this. The young angler who caught the biggest carp received 1 kg of boilie from Dániel Szabó, and thanks to the offer of our fellow angler István Csidei, he was also able to receive a boilie rod.
At the end of the competition, after the many prizes and gifts had been prepared , Marietta Horváthné Varga, mayor of Döröske village, also greeted the children, wished everyone a happy Children's Day, and encouraged the young people to visit Döröske with their parents in the future. The mayor also offered them gummy candies, so each child could go home with an additional surprise in addition to the gifts from the Association.

Today proved once again that fishing is not only about the love of nature and recreation, but also about a friendly and loving community that is a joy to belong to.
