50,000 small bream arrived in the Rába water system
On Thursday, the Hungarian University of Agricultural and Life Sciences (MATE), in collaboration with the Keszthely Georgikon Campus - in the spirit of the many years of cooperation with our Association - stocked mixed bream in the rivers of the county.

In addition to the goal of fulfilling the fish management plans approved by the authority, our Association is committed to maintaining and developing the fish population of small watercourses – which are unfortunately in a difficult situation. This is not a problem for our streams with a constant water flow and body of water, however, the low water level of the majority of our small streams does not allow their installation in every year and period, therefore in our installation plans they are classified as so-called optionally installable water areas.
The 50,000 pieces of mixed bream (bream, rudd, bream, etc.) produced by MATE were transported after loading by József Mesterházy, the fish management group leader of our Association, and Péter Balassa, the managing director of Halászmester Kft. , whose work and contribution to the installation are also gratefully acknowledged.
The installation primarily affected the Rába and our watercourses that flow into the river – the Csörnöc-Herpenyő, the Pinká – as well as several small watercourses.
Opinions and experiences differ on the survival of such small fish species, depending on the nature of the water areas and the quantity and quality of available food, but we are certainly happy about the opportunity provided by the cooperation in the interests of the fish population of small watercourses.
Stocking will continue throughout October and November with further shipments of bream, tench and predatory fish (pike and perch).
