32. Zalaszentmihály Fishing Day
The program started with a fishing competition in the morning, followed by a fish soup making competition and several colorful cultural programs. The best received cups and gifts. Our association, in memory of Jenő Adorján, established a traveling cup for the best fish soup maker and the most successful angler.
On behalf of MOHOSZ and our association, Vice President Norbert Puskás greeted the fishermen at the results announcement at noon, then the awards ceremony took place with the participation of Zsolt Pacsai, President of the Zalaszentmihályi HE. A rowing competition was also included between the results announcement of the fishing competition and the other protocol programs. Although the competition started timidly at first, Norbert Puskás tested his rowing skills by changing his shirt for a Vasa federation t-shirt and encouraged the participants to compete. The result was much more modest than the atmosphere, but the presence of Vasa and the arrival of the enthusiastic participants brought real, community-building joy in the summer heat.
This year's event took on special significance, as the local fishing community remembered the former president of the association, Jenő Adorján, who died of a serious illness in the spring.
After welcoming remarks by László Vigh, Member of Parliament, and Róbert Rétvári, Vice President of the Zala County Government, at 3 p.m., the fishing tourism developments implemented from the resources of the Regional and Settlement Development Operational Program were officially handed over. On behalf of MOHOSZ, Director Erika Dienes and Vice President Norbert Puskás participated in the festive event.
Norbert Puskás thanked all those involved, supporters and helpers for the development, which was implemented with a grant of 187 million forints. He emphasized that it is important to have as many similarly active and dynamically developing fishing organizations as possible in the Hungarian National Fishing Association, as the leaders and member organizations of MOHOSZ work to ensure that the community of one million anglers can enjoy their favorite pastime in the best possible environment.
He highlighted that this investment was also born from an approach that is typical of the fishing community – not only anglers, but all nature lovers can find a recreational opportunity on the shores of Lake Zalaszentmihályi through the developments. More importantly, however, Saturday's event also showed well: from the youngest to the oldest, all ages meet here on the waterfront, as fishing connects generations and creates communities – which is especially valuable in today's world.
As he said, the support can only really benefit the community if there are leaders like Jenő Adorján, who put their heart and soul into improving the lives of the local fishing community. Jenő invited me to the event back in the spring, so it is especially difficult and painful to say goodbye now that he is no longer with us. - continued Norbert Puskás
During the work of President Jenő Adorján, several significant investments were made, which further increased the reputation and attractiveness of the Zalaszentmihály Fishing Lake. I wish the management of the association similar successes, and I trust that the developments now created will be used healthily for many decades.
A touching moment of the celebration was when, on this year's Fishing Day, as part of the project closing, the Adorján Jenő Lookout was handed over, a tangible symbol of respect for the local community.
The results of the fish soup cooking competition were announced afterwards, where, following Norbert Puskás' closing remarks, Mayor Dr. Andrea Dóra Csikós, Director of the MOHOSZ OHSZK Erika Dienes, and Production Director of Balatoni Halgazdálkozód Ferenc Fodor presented awards to the best cooking teams.
The competition was then replaced by fun and programs that lasted until dawn. Thank you for the invitation, and we sincerely congratulate the association on a successful event!
