We organized a Pair Fishing Competition for Officials in Vasvár
On October 3, 2026, the Vasvár Boating Lake hosted the traditional Officials Pair Fishing Competition of the Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Associations. There was a special reason for choosing this year's venue: the Association also wanted to pay tribute to the 80th anniversary of the Vasvár Petőfi Fishing Association by inviting the participants of the friendly competition to Vasvár this time.
Following the morning meeting , László Laki, president of the Vasvári Petőfi Fishing Association and vice president of the Association, and Norbert Puskás, executive president of the Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Associations, greeted the participants.
12 pairs, a total of 24 anglers, took the starting places drawn in the competition. The morning started very cool, only 3-4 degrees Celsius greeted the participants, but the capriciousness of the weather was clearly shown by the fact that after a few hours the common fishing could continue in pleasant sunshine, with temperatures above 20 degrees Celsius. The organizers also prepared drinks and delicious fried meat sandwiches during the morning.
The two-person teams took a common starting point, and their catches were weighed together. The participants tried both feeder and float techniques. The Vasvári Boating Lake provided a variety of catches: carp, bream, small and large crucian carp and a few dwarf catfish were also hooked. One of the more skillful pairs successfully netted three carp.
The competition was won by László Laki and Szabolcs Kránitz (Vasvári Petőfi HE) with a catch of 13 kilograms and 310 grams. In second place were László Németh and Attila Szakács (Vasvár&Elektromosok SHE) with a catch of 8 kilograms and 160 grams, while third place was won by László Gyula Kardos and Dr. Zoltán Horváth (Ikervári HE) with a catch of 7 kilograms and 780 grams.
By the end of the four-hour fishing trip, the 12 teams had caught a total of 53 kilograms 710 grams of fish.
Before the announcement of the results, Executive Chairman Norbert Puskás thanked all participants for their sporting attitude and for being part of a community program with a good atmosphere.
He expressed special thanks to István Góth, thanks to whom the participants were able to end the day with a delicious joint lunch at the end of the competition, as well as to László Laki and all the helpers of the Vasvári Petőfi Fishing Association, who contributed to the preparation and successful implementation of the event with their work.
The Association would like to create an opportunity every year for the leaders, officials, staff and active volunteers of the associations who are willing to go fishing together to spend a few hours together on a beautiful autumn day. In today's fast-paced world, those occasions when we meet not for a meeting, official consultation or a problem to be solved, but simply sit next to each other on the waterfront, are becoming increasingly valuable.
During a few hours of fishing together, we have time to talk, get to know each other better, and also to further strengthen human, association, and fishing relationships. That is why we would like this event to maintain its friendly, hobby-like atmosphere in the future, where of course everyone wants to catch fish, but at the end of the day, it is not only the kilograms on the scale that count.

However, this is not the end of the Association's fishing program this year. Depending on the weather, the Integrated Fishing Day will take place on Wednesday, which will be the Association's last official "competition" of the year on the Szombathely Boating Lake.
