This school year's Special Education programs in the county have closed.
In the 2025/2026 school year, with the support of the Hungarian National Anglers' Association (MOHOSZ) Fishing Training and Education Program (HUNOP), a total of 39 children in Vas County joined the School Sport Fishing Club. The goal of the program is for young people to learn the basics of fishing, the love of nature, and the approach to responsible fishing in an organized setting.
During the school year, the participants explored the diverse world of fishing step by step. During the theoretical sessions, they learned about the rules and traditions of fishing, the wildlife of domestic waters, and the most important principles of fishing ethics. They also gained insight into the specifics of different fishing methods and learned what equipment is most appropriate to use in each situation.

During the professional circle sessions, the children learned the aspects of choosing the right rods, reels, lines and hooks, got to know the most important hook ties and rigs, and learned how to make them themselves. An important part of the sessions was recognizing domestic fish species, learning about their lifestyle and habitat, and emphasizing the role of nature and environmental protection. In this way, the children became aware not only of the technical basics of fishing, but also of the importance of protecting aquatic life.

The practical sessions were a particularly great experience for the participants. They made different rigs with their own hands, tried out the correct use of bait and lures, and then applied what they had learned in real conditions during the demonstration fishing. During the joint fishing, they experienced that success requires not only the right knowledge and equipment, but also patience, perseverance and attention.

By the end of the school year, the participants of the professional group have gained significant knowledge, are more confident in the world of fishing, while also gaining many community experiences and new friendships. We are confident that the knowledge they have acquired and the experiences they have had together will be a determining factor for them in the long term, and many of them will remain active anglers in the future.
We would like to thank the heads of the specialist groups: István Németh (Sárvár), Ferenc Pukler (Rábapaty) and Gábor Somogyi (Rum) for their conscientious work throughout the school year, as well as the cooperating institutions – Géza Gárdonyi Elementary School in Sárvár, János Arany Elementary School in Rábapaty and István Rajki Elementary School in Rumi – for their support in implementing the program.
The Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Associations remains committed to educating young anglers, as we are convinced that it is worth educating young people in the love of nature, responsible thinking and the values of fishing from childhood.
