The possibilities and dangers of fishing for trout in the waters of Vásárlón
Thanks to the persistent cold, a safe, continuous layer of ice has formed on several still waters in Vas, so after many years, it has become possible to fish for pike in those waters where neither the local government nor the current fishing regulations prohibit it.
The Szombathelyi Televízió crew filmed at the Újperint gravel pit lake, where the ice thickness reaches 12–14 centimeters. The report presents the atmosphere of lake fishing, the technique, the species of fish that can be caught, and the most important safety regulations.
It is important to emphasize that fishing in the lake is only permitted there,
- where it is not prohibited by the local government or asset manager exercising ownership rights,
- and where local or county fishing regulations allow it.
Entering the ice and fishing is always at your own risk. Ice fishing on rivers and some lakes is strictly prohibited and life-threatening.
The Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Associations asks anglers to only go out on the ice when the ice is thick enough, if possible not alone, and with appropriate equipment (rope, warm clothing, hot drink).
For example, we mention the following water areas where you can legally fish from the air: Gencsapáti Lake, Csepreg Téglagyári Lake, Püspökmolnár Kavicsbánya Lake, Magyarszecsőd Lake.
Thank you to Zsuzsa Krizsán and András Vörös for filming!
