The Döröskei-tó Cup took place in a jubilee atmosphere

The Vasi Vizeken TackleBait competition series continued on the picturesque Döröskei Reservoir over the weekend, where a total of 41 anglers competed in the youth and hobby adult categories of the Döröskei Lake Cup over two days. The special atmosphere of the competition weekend was further enhanced by the fact that the settlement of Döröskei celebrated several significant anniversaries this weekend: the 750-year-old St. James Church, the more than 780-year-old settlement, and the 50-year-old Döröskei Lake.

Youth round - you could have won by bream

On Saturday, the youth category competitors took their places on the shore of the lake. The 13 young anglers competed in two sectors, in sunny, real summer weather. It was already clear in the first hour of the competition that on this day, mainly bream species staying in the coastal zones could be the key to success. Although several nice carp were hooked with the feeder technique, this time the victory was primarily needed for breams caught at a fast pace.

This was best recognized by László Czékus, who caught beautiful 30–60 decagrams of carp fishing near the shore with a pole rod. With an outstanding performance, he finally won the youth round with a catch of 14,380 grams.

The winners of the youth category:

🥈 Buthi Benjamin – 8,070 g
🥉 Rahnefeld Max - 7,880 g

The total catch of the field was 50,440 grams, and the average catch was nearly 3.9 kilograms/person. It is a special pleasure that every participant managed to catch a fish.

Following the competition, the participants were treated to a joint lunch by the Döröske Municipality, and the results were announced in connection with the town's anniversary event. As part of the festive program , Norbert Puskás, the executive chairman of the Association, briefly presented the history of the lake, the developments of recent years, and the planned waterfront investments for the near future.

Hobby adult round - more carp and bigger catches

On Sunday, the amateur adult category took over the Döröskei Reservoir. 28 anglers took part in the competition, which took place in three sectors, and the catches were much more varied than on Saturday.

The fish appeared on the feeders in the first minutes of the competition: bream, carp, crucian carp and dwarf catfish were all hooked. Out of the 28 starters, only one competitor was left without a fish to weigh. Most anglers tried feeder techniques, but this time, shorter-distance, near-shore fishing proved to be successful. The lake's increasingly strong bream population once again played a decisive role, but at the same time, more carp were hooked compared to Saturday, which significantly increased the catch averages.

The most successful competitor of the day was Milán Gersei , who took first place from A10 with a catch of 14,450 grams.

The winners of the hobby adult category:

🥈 Attila Matthias – 13,870 g
🥉 Gábor Bálint – 10,090 g

Among the ladies, Diána Kajtár was the most successful, ending the day with a catch of 1,560 grams.

The total catch of the competition was 129,520 grams, and the average catch increased to 4,626 grams/person.

Of particular interest was the catch of a 61-decagram, 30-centimeter pygmy catfish, which is considered a truly large specimen.

The weekend was not only about racing, but also about community experiences and the Döröske holiday. The anniversary programs, the excellent weather and the good mood together created a special atmosphere on the lakeside.
