The best of this year's competition series were awarded

As is tradition, the Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Associations held its year-end board meeting in December, during which the official results of the 2025 Vasi Vizeken - Garbolino - Tacklebait Competition Series were announced. The event was attended by invited competitors, fishing association leaders, guests and the main sponsor, who celebrated the most successful anglers of the season together.

At the beginning of the meeting, the participants observed a minute of silence in memory of two fishing leaders who recently passed away: Károly Mészáros, president of the Vassurányi SHE., and Dr. István Dérer, vice president of MOHOSZ, director general of OHSZK. The fishing community remembers their human and professional legacy with respect.

The event was opened by Miklós Seregi, the president of the association, then Norbert Puskás, the executive president, took the floor and invited the president and Tibor Geröly, the managing director of BNT Business and Trading Kft, which distributes the Garbolino – TackleBait brand, to solemnly sign the renewal of the sponsorship contract for the competition series. Tibor Geröly’s company has been a committed supporter of the competitions for years and will contribute to the awards with valuable gift vouchers this year and in the future, thus supporting the development of competitive fishing in the county. According to the support agreement, a total of 1.2 million forints worth of vouchers will be available to reward the competitors during the 2026–2027 season.

Norbert Puskás continued his speech by presenting the results and most important experiences of this year's county competition series. The competition series once again proved its unwavering popularity, with 36 adult hobbyists, 11 youth and 40 competitors competing in the rounds.

The year 2025 brought fresh momentum to the series with a new venue, diverse waters and a renewed scoring system in the competitor category. The field competed in a sporting, friendly atmosphere this year as well.

The 2025 competition rounds are:

• May 1st – Lake Kęthatór Cup (Kerkafalva)
• May 17th – Döröske Cup (Döröskei Reservoir)
• June 22 – Abért-tó Cup (Lukácsháza)
• September 7th – Molnári Lake Cup (Püspökmolnári) – hobby category
• September 20–21 – Vas County Individual and Team Championships (Lake Abért II) – competitive category

This year, the hobby and youth categories had to participate in at least three rounds, while all five rounds were mandatory for competitors. Even the smallest differences counted, with several places having the same score, and in the end, the catch weights were the deciding factor.

The best of 2025:

• Hobby adult category

1. Zoltán Horváth (Vasvári HE.) – 25,260 g – 68 points
2. Otto Németh (Ölbői SHE.) – 50,360 g – 58 points
3. Kevin Szalai (Kőszegi SHE.) – 23,990 g – 58 points

Zoltán Horváth won the category by a significant margin with a steady, confident performance, two sector firsts and a second place.

• Youth category

1. Goldmann Dominik (Kőszegi SHE.) – 15 230 g – 55 points
2. Máthé Zalán (Electricians SHE.) – 12,300 g – 55 points
3. László Czékus (Sárvíz-tavi HE.) – 13,000 g – 49 points

The youth category brought an extremely close battle. After a tie between Dominik Goldmann and Zalán Máthé, the total weight of the catches decided the winner, and in the end Dominik Goldmann became the champion.

• Competitor category

1. Attila Vámos (Spartacus HE.) – 75,620 g – 13 points
2. Zoltán Gábor Török (Electricians SHE.) – 81,770 g – 19 points
3. Tibor Pajtli (Spartacus HE.) – 94 310 g – 20 points

In the first year of the new scoring system in the competitive category, Attila Vámos proved to be the angler with the most balanced performance. Although he did not win the sector title, he confidently won the championship title with stable competition. Tibor Pajtli caught the most fish in the entire field, but this was enough for the bronze medal.

At the awards ceremony, the participants celebrated the podium winners with applause, and the association's leadership thanked the competitors, associations, organizers, and main sponsor who contributed to the success of the series.
